Most of our parents worked and got home 6/7, but I had this hispanic friend who was rich as shit. To this day I don't know why they were rich, but he had every toy, video game system, and a pool so we all hung out there every day while his mom made us snacks. Where this gets weird is there were times when I was sick and his mom and my mom would talk, and I'd lay down on a couch while his mom did the cross over me with a raw egg. She'd pray Catholic prayers while going over my face, arms, etc, and at the end she'd crack the egg into a glass of water. No lie, every single time, like an hour later that egg would almost cook in the water and turn solid, and I would feel so much better. They called it the evil eye or something, like some demon had cursed me and this prayer ritual removed it.I had completely forgotten about this till this weekend when my sister reminded me of it.
