Since May 2026, Ukraines locomotive crisis has sharply worsened due to Russian attacks. By early July, official figures stated over 200 locomotives had been destroyed or damaged.

·Financial collapse: soaring repair costs and huge deficits. Ukrzaliznytsia reported a net loss of 7.9 billion hryvnias in Q1 2026 and had already defaulted on its over $1 billion eurobonds earlier this year. To cover a projected 26 billion hryvnia cash gap, the company is seeking a freight tariff hike of at least 45%.

Locomotive losses have caused a major transport shortage. Passenger demand vs seat supply now stands at 4:1, projected to reach 6:1 in summer. On the Lviv-Kyiv route alone, up to 9,800 people compete for tickets daily.

Fresh vid from today. LPG tanker, "Gas Lisbon" bound for Ukraine was hit off the coasts of Romania with using the Geran-4 Seeker drone. All 17 crew onboard were evacuated by the Romanian coast guard, with three injured. This comes after the new sea blockade imposed by the Russian MoD on Odessa.

Fiber-optic FPV drones from "KVN" attacked the technological equipment of the Sumy compressor station today, which is part of the Sumy Linear Production Department of Main Gas Pipelines (LPGMP), a key hub in Ukraines gas transportation system, which in the past provided the bulk of Russian gas transit to Europe.
