an Illustrious based model with a pixel art lora will do 99% of assets fine, if you need very specific shapes use a depth and line-art controlnet.
if you need specific color matching use a pre-colored latent image as the base and set the denoise lower than 1.
if you need creativity and can articulate exactly what you want, use an Anima or Krea2 model for generation and then filter the result through an Illustrious model for styling.

Its a nice help tool but that's all there is to it.

If you're making music or art then you can get complexity and nice themes but it will lack some distinct elements. There's many ways to engage with it, dumping a long list of requirements and copy pasting the output is not the most optimal way.

>>539336846
Work evolves. Programming also did, you don't need a jeet junior dev to deliver his 10-20 lines of code per day. You do need senior devs who can challenge AI outputs, actually know business problems and context and can navigate a maze of tools that even AI struggles to advice on.
>>
>>539337624
It hasn't become easier to make a quality game though. It has become easier to ''just make the game work / run''. AI tools help a lot, especially with the mundane programming work. They don't automatically add quality or make it fun / worthwhile to play.

The people capable of understanding the output at a high (programmer low) level will still have ridiculously high paying jobs. The only difference now is that you don't need to spend months/years reinventing the wheel when you need a software package trapped behind extortionate paywalls. This is genuinely the best time ever to be a creator of any sort because if you have the willingness, motivation and determination to create, you can absolutely create some amazing things. The real problem is that we've created an underclass of loser over the last 200 years that are willing to slave their lives out with no real want to do anything creative, these are the people truly getting btfo because they were never capable of thought.

there is almost no reason to manually code or not use mcp's these days. if you actually did any sort of dev work you'd realize 90% of the job is forum hunting for solutions that other people have already found. agentic coding allows you to focus on creativity and solutions to problems (i swear these are not buzzwords in this context) as opposed to algebra and if you are using the correct dot operator

i think the conflation with ai art, which is bad sure, is what causes people to deride ai coding, but its off base completely. no soul or creativity is injected into a project because i manually plugged my clips into a mecanim flow and turned on preserve hierarchy myself to get the animations to work. i didnt gain anything from doing that manually. on the flipside, if i can prompt in plain english to do these things while also assigning my player character to their correct faction and adding drag to the player controller all in one prompt in less time, what the fuck would i have gained from doing that by hand? the answer is nothing, i am just wasting time if i do that by hand

coding at this point is less about "can you do the math and remember all the form and coding-concepts necessary to make anything at all" and now much more "how can i treat these already existing pieces that keep getting recreated, more like an already existing toolbox and combine them in unique ways?"

the one thing I will say is that the better you understand the underlying concepts, its likely you will be more efficient at prompting and even going in and editing where you need to, but id argue that this should be reserved for senior/lead positions anyway. of course you shouldnt just let a machine blindly lead you, you should understand what its doing as much as you can, but let's not pretend you gain soul or intention when you do a hand calculation as opposed to using a calculator, all that mentality gets you is left behind

inb4 sar because im defending some aspect of ai

the market is literally already flooded with garbage. if anything, this allows creative smaller teams to work more efficiently so they can compete with larger studios. indians who used this stuff to make games with those pixar thumbnails on steam can be spotted from a mile away. its literally all a net benefit. ai will not make you a better game developer, it simply lets you reach your potential faster. if your potential was always some soulless jeet, your game will be that and it will be obvious.

if someone makes something you genuinely enjoy but you find out they used ai code later, would you have no way to reconcile this with yourself? would your brain just break?
>>
>>539335488
actual correct take minus the white bashing from a brownoid, these same white autists are the reason the hobby exists at all

but yes you are correct that learning to code meant that making games used to be gate kept to people who would only end up using it for the most asinine shit, like recreating all of mario64's movement or something

now if YOU have a good game idea and learn some design basics, you can quite literally mog that modern autist, and no, this is not even remotely the same as ai art. there are near infinite ways to draw a line, there are not infinite ways to wire WASD to movement. I mean there can be, but you'd be wasting the fuck out of your time to not do it one of two known ways, so literally just prompt that and then ask it to explain what it did if you are curious
>>
But the games are all bad
>>
The overselling on its abilities are whats going to kill AI. My job has a data entry job that takes a person 15 minutes and has a 3% fail rate. We have spent the last 3 months trying to get AI to do it and despite it lowering complete time to 3 minutes we cant get the fail rate below 20% at best and that's using 2 agents to do the job and 3 other agents triple checking the work.

i feel like that 20% fail rate could be easily fixed if you just add a prompt that rigidly defined your failure conditions and it checks itself based on those conditions. proper prompting these days almost wont allow something to fail if you have properly defined your goals and fail states. the one thing i can maybe think of is that maybe right at this moment, constant web page access and scanning those into localized work might be a bit difficult. i think many models still struggle with pulling stuff from the internet then leveraging that into its work but i dunno i still think more rigid goals and failure conditions would fix the problem, but id have to see it myself to know what was truly going on

> This is genuinely the best time ever to be a creator of any sort
Except, jews
You can and will be outcompeted and drowned out by chosenites with access to the money printer. It's been happening for at least 2 decades now - nobody can compete with big boys that can and do call JPOW (now Walsh) for a free credit boost whenever they fuck up and then buy all competition whenever they feel like.
AI is just going to supercharge all that.
The industrial revolution has been a disaster for the human race. And the middle class. All the "durr new jobs will be created" faggots need to be put out of their fucking misery right now, I'm so fucking sick of their retarded shit and open inability to understand basic economy. Automation, like immigration, pushes wages down by inflating the labor supply - by DESTROYING labor. The jobs that once were are no more. The "new jobs" that are created as a consequences are just vestigial management roles that are enabled by the new sudden jump in efficiency that automation allowed. You're not seeing any of that in your wallet of course, the money printer steals it all. Then if the market grows 10x in the meantime it can sort of (but not really) mask the gigantic labor destruction that happened, but still labor destruction it is.
Automation favors the incumbent and existing capital. Everyone else will get fucked. It is already happening. And AI is the ultimate, universal automation. Being a creator? For fucks sake wake up and smell the coffee, this is feudalism with absolute centralized control. Why do you think they're scrambling to place a camera on every street even in bumfuck nowhere? They know you're not gonna like what's gonna come next, and they sure as fuck don't want to get Luigied.

> Nigger do you think using AI to program means they’re just pressing play after submitting a prompt?
It's getting to that point. It's just producing garbage of course, but it sort of works and it's no worse than what jeeted big companies push out nowadays. A jeet is cheap but its not free, and AI for as much as people are crying over credits and shit is still pretty much free. Where yesterday you needed a whole department of 200+ jeets to shit out your next garbage corpo software update, today you need maybe 10. The other 190 jobs are poof gone.
This doesn't say in favour of AI and how good it is, it just talks about how software has gotten to pure absolute shit over the last 3 decades or so, and it's so bad in quality on average than even whatever garbage AI spits out today when unsupervised is still pretty much the same quality as what's produced by big corpos - for a fraction of a fraction of the cost.
If you're a competent developer, AI is useful just as boilerplate generator/fill in the blanks, or as some sort of static analyzer on steroids. It's still useful, but it's not that magic tool that management seems to think it is. Maybe it will get to the point where it can really build something sensible, but as it is today I can't see that happening with the system it's on now. Still, 99% of "office" jobs are already today prime for AI replacement, it's just a question of when. Again, not because AI is good, but because those "office" jobs are just adult jewish kindergarten already.

The invention of the camera didn't invalidate painting and painters. Just because the tool of expression changes, doesn't mean art isn't art. And this is just the art side. As I said, no shock that managers are licking their lips and gulping it all down. The only real issue is that were it actually delivers on those point it also creates massive friction. Wont be shocked if many of the over spenders folds within a couple of years. However, that changes little since the tools/tech is here, and it will in all likelihood improve.
Optimistic estimates would be that 90-95 % of IT workers will have to find something else to do within the next decades.

You guys over exaggerate what AI can do for coding. When "game devs" like in the OP whine about AI in gaming they always are vague because 9/10 the AI used is replacing artists but they try to paint it as a broad stroke. AI is making that barrel and painting and other background assets you never notice and this is a good thing but people are retarded thinking a single non programming person can make a modern AAA or even AA game with AI.

We are in what, year 3 I guess at this point of being told AI is going to replace Hollywood and game studios and not a single person has made a Hollywood quality movie or AAA game with AI yet. I am not saying AI can't do smaller things, in fact that is my argument and AI is being overblown
>>
>>539359401
I've been programming for over 30 years now. Attention isn't all we need, but as an absolute retard when it comes to UI and design, AI is a good thing. Hell, even LLMs are a good thing, too.
There's this manager of a manager of mine who drools about AI and uses web fronted apps made using AI as an example of rapid development. To which, I can only say that it doesn't mean that LLMs are above Turing, it only means that web development isn't.
I've seen a tester using Claude to analyse logs and to write bug descriptions - they sucked, but it was an improvement. I've also seen a fellow dev using it to troubleshoot a double dtor call of an object defined in a shared library. Pretty obvious in a hindsight, but hey, it helped him.
It's fascinating to see people abusing a simple transfomer to do seemingly logical things.

I'm mostly trying to get the ai to code the game so it functions. I can supply assets and the like. I want to tell the ai to "make a functional 7 choice menu and have each choice have 7 more choices" or something like that. I'm aware I'll need to go over it and make sure everything works, but I would like something to be made so I can test it myself. I can't code for shit and I don't have the time, energy, or money to learn. I can make a cool story tho, I can think of cool mechanics I'd like to see in a game, I can even visualize how I want the game to look.
I'm aware ai can't do everything, but I'm asking if told it to make, say "a copy of fallout 4 gameplay" so I could edit it to my liking, could it do that?
