We have amazing technology today that we didn't have in the 1990's, but at the time only White males used the internet and we even already had the earliest versions of smartphones in 1999. I prefer today over the 1990's, but that decade did create a lot of amazing and horrible things.

There was less inequality and a sense that things can turn around. Like others mentioned people were authentic, music was original, raves were amazing.
