English speaking sources on this are very disconnected from the truth, to the point that many redditors think life in Cuba is great and they have the world's best healthcare or something.The truth is that the cuban regime just basically called off communism, and said they'd allow the free market. Regime officials have been saying things like "you can't improve people's lives by raising min wage or printing money if the economy just doesn't produce enough goods" aka textbook libertarianism. They're unironically more capitalist than Trump now.I don't think they'll happily give up control over the whole economy but things are probably about to change in Cuba.
