Why is it so bad to live with parents at 35?
>>
>>539415050
Twitter screenshot thread isn't politics
>>
because it shows that you aren't moving forward in life
>>
>>539415205
Why is that bad?
>>
>>539415500
same thing as why people being on welfare is bad. You aren't contributing to society and just leeching off others. Society isn't sustainable if too many people leech off the system.
>>
>>539415050
Hes pretending that its a lazy choice instead of sensible when rent is atrocious.
>>
>>539415721
society doesn't provide jobs that pay well enough to afford modern inflated rent prices
>>
>>539415721
Make society worth participating in, then
>>
>>539415205
There is no moving forward in life for many. Just directionless existence until we grow old and die.
>>
>>539415205
>>539415721
If a man started "contibuting" and working a job at 18, he'd need at least until 35 to make anough money to buy a basic bitch house in the bumfuck nowhere. That is, if he doesn't slave himself away to a sizeable interest based loan to live in a slightly less shitty house/apartment.
>>
>>539415050
Scott seems like a total faggot
>>
>>539415833
well people in poor countries move out despite having less disposable income after rent.
>>
Because past the age of 18 you're an adult and should be out trying to make something of yourself. By the time you're 30 you should have secured a career and a wife. By the time you're 35 you should be a family man.

Living with your parents when you should already have kids of your own is a clear indicator that you're a complete failure.
>>
>>539415721
Its already unsustainable, contributing just drags out the collapse.
>>
>>539415050
Depends on where and what kind of house your parents live in i suppose
>>
>>539416225
you should be able to afford a down payment after 5 years of saving. Nobody buys a house all in cash, retard.
>>
>>539416235
Families in poor countries cram into the same houses they've owned for generations, you're an idiot. This whole expectation of having to move out and live on your own at 18 is strictly a 20th century America thing, and it was never sustainable.
>>
>>539416081
how? Anything you suggest is basically communism.
>>
>>539416256
If women no longer want kids, who are the men supposed to have kids with?
>>
>>539416235
>well people in poor countries move out despite having less disposable income after rent.

No they fucking don't what the fuck are you talking about??? It's super common to live three generations to a house in poor countries.
>>
>>539416355
they have 20 people to a house? Clearly not. People in poor countries get married and start families. They also have multiple siblings usually so they can't all own the house.
>>
>>539415205
Life ends at 26 anyways. After that there's nothing to "progress" to, as aging chips away at every effort you make

The boomer myth of retirement and "golden ears" was a myth intended to cover this up and get you to keep working til you're 65 so you can finally "peak" then
>>
>>539416337
a down payment, yes, but that leaves the rest of the payments (also far higher) and insurance (way, way higher) required by lenders and taxes (higher in both valuation and percentage)
>>
>>539416465
mortgage payments are way cheaper than renting.

You sound mad that you can't own a house free and clear at 25 when that has never been the case in modern history. Even boomers had mortgage payments.
>>
>>539416256
And by the time you're 50 the kids are grown up and wife has left you. Now you've got another 40 years waiting for death. Why did science give us all these extended decades at the end no one gives a shit about, but do nothing to extend our primes or reproductive years?
>>
>>539415721
>you arent contributing to the society that hates you
Womp womp suck your commie governments dick some more you faggot

The average home price in Ontario is over $1m. What kind of job do you think anyone is working where they can save up $100k+ for a down payment after just 5 years, let alone someone in their 20s/early 30s?
>>
>>539415205
The world is moving backward so I don’t see treading water as a loss. Every parent with a 35 year old at home was warned things would turn out this way since before that 35 year old was born and do nothing to stop it.

nothing wrong with living with family, but you can't do it forever. So what's the plan for later?
>>
35 is middle aged for men. By 35, you should have developed a trade, craft, vocation, or some sort of obligation and be in the full swing of it. Many will not have that in modern times, but you should at least have a skill and a job to be able to secure a living.

This isn’t the full story though because traditionally it was your parents who to some degree were responsible for cultivating this. If you made it to 18 and your dad never taught you any skills or trades or crafts that could get you paid and didn’t pay for your education to enter a specific career then your parents failed you. This is like the 2nd most essential obligation of a parent next only to keeping you out of the grave, prison, or the street. But we all grew up with parents who are retards that didn’t give a fuck. They cared about themselves and were lazy, so they slept their way through their education and careers, went home and sat in front of the boob tube, and never taught you shit. They spent more time trying to make their mediocre kids into professional baseball players than teaching them a realistic way to make a living. They figured it would just work out because they didn’t care enough to realize otherwise and meet their obligations. If your dad was a lawyer, you should’ve been on the path to becoming a lawyer by 16. If your dad was a banker, you should have been on the path to becoming a banker by 16. If you dad was a mechanic, you should’ve been on the path to becoming a mechanic by 16. They didn’t do this. So once again, boomers are the real problem.
>>
>>539416982
You can literally do it forever until they die
>>
>>539415050
no incentive. the rest of the world has already solved this problem, if you want privacy you get a love hotel.
>>
>>539416583
Mortgage payments aren't the only cost of home ownership, you lying leaf.
When you rent you pay the rent and maybe utilities.
When you "own" you pay rent 1 (your mortgage with the bank), rent 2 (your property taxes), your utilities (all of them), and upkeep and maintenance fees for the property (lawn care, roof care, walls, appliances, the list goes on).
Mind you that in that "ownership" case, you still lose everything you put into it if you miss a few property tax payments, or if the government decides to build a highway or date center in that nice data center-shaped forest next to your back yard.

Rent is an infinite black hole but at least it's an honest infinite black hole.
>>
>>539417026
you have to pray they don't end up in a nursing home. And if you have siblings then you won't be owning the house outright as they will own some too.

>t. hasn't actually looked at housing prices in 15 years
Oshawa, a city an hour+ on the highway from Toronto, is a universally mocked city, with the highest teen pregnancy rate in the country and the second highest rate of unemployment in the country. It also has a known problem with biker gangs and fent zombies.

The average Oshawa housing price is $700k.
>>
>>539415050
Because if you're 24 living with parents, its forgivable, it's okay. You can do it and it's a variation of normal, but still normal.

If you're 35 still living with parents, you're officially not supposed to. There's no part of the normie script that allows you to take it this far. You're officially going off script, and doing something you're not supposed to. I don't know the exact maximum, but at 35 it's for sure not acceptable.

That being said I don't give a shit about following a set of rules, and neither should you.
>>
>>539416990
Yeah, my parents were "present but absent." There for me when I needed them, but didn't teach my anything. Dad left when I was a kid. Now I'm a failure to launch.

>. And if you have siblings then you won't be owning the house outright as they will own some too.
Yes siblings complicates things, but it doesn't change the underlying reality:
Family living together is a good thing.
It is only in like weird western boomer culture that this is seen as a bad thing.

Look at the prodigal son. We are somehow in the upside down world where the one who leaves home and acts like a nigger is doing the good thing

yes but with families, it's always one person living with the parents and the siblings have moved out. If parents die and house deed gets transferred to the kids, the siblings aren't going to be ok with one sibling living there for free forever. They will force a sale and you now have to live elsewhere.

Yep. Boomers grew up in a world of untold luxury and abundance, and just never bothered to teach our generation anything at all. I don't know a single person who works in the same field their parents did. Every single career trajectory is basically "pointless retail work for all your 20s, maybe get a lucky break with an office job in your 30s where you make 1/5th of what your parents did when they were 23".

I'm 35, got a house and moved my mom in. She pays half the mortgage. Landlords kept raising her rent every year so living on her own became unaffordable. Because I only pay half mortgage now the cheddar stacks easily and I have way more financial flexibility. If I do things correctly I can pay off this house before I'm 40. The only downside is this gives women the ick, but being previously burned I really don't care what they think and haven't pursued a relationship for 6 years. In fact, the idea of letting some whore come in and take over what I've worked for sounds appalling. The world is very different now, don't let others tell you how to live and what you should value.

>They spent more time trying to make their mediocre kids into professional baseball players than teaching them a realistic way to make a living.
Literally me but soccer. My dad wanted me to play in the world cup, he only had kids to feed his own ego. He is a carpenter and took the fun out of working. When I was a kid he would get drunk on friday then angerwork on Saturday during a hangover, yelling at me while he was building a deck or whatever. Basicalky I got brainwashed into thinking that work is an evil tribulation that is meant for suffering and tears. He also never actually taught me carpentering because he and my mom didn't want me to ever be independent of them, he just treated everyone like a slave and I learned nothing from him, and I want him to die.
>>
ngl, I learned a lot of things when I moved out.
and again learned a lot of things when i bought my house.

>Depends on what the parents think and the siblings also
Parents will be dead, and you siblings are not going to leave hundreds of thousands of dollars on the table for nothing.
>>
>>539417197
That describes all parents of Millenials and Gen Z parents. Their parents were narcissists. In so far as they cared or did anything it was feel good bullshit that was actually for themselves. They put effort into coaching kids’ baseball because it would stroke their ego and satiate their ridiculous interests if their kid went pro. But they never gave a fuck if their kid earned a decent living. They don’t get any ego boost from that. In fact. A lot of boomer dads saw their kids as competition, and still do. They actually want their kids to struggle so they can feel like they are just better.

The good news is that it’s not too late to make something of your life regardless of their baggage. The one silver lining of our time is freedom of movement and zero reasons to care about normative expectations or social stigma. If you find yourself at 33 without a decent income or something like that, you can just realize that and dedicate a few years to entering a respectable career. And yes, it will be a slog and the fruits will be lesser than what your parents were afforded but it just is what it is. At the end of the day, this life is a string of finite moments and all we really get to do is choose how to allocate those moments. Whether you’re religious or atheist, it stands to reason the optimal way to allocate those moments is in ways that are worthwhile. So regardless of your age or what pathetic fuck ups your parents were, at any given moment the prudent thing to do is to live that out vocationally. Pick something worth doing, dedicate yourself to it, and make your life count. You may never reach the heights you could’ve if you had been raised into it, or found it at 25, but this is still your best option at any given moment. And a lot of us are just going at it alone. My dad abandoned me when I was 14, and my mom didn’t know shit and wasn’t a good mom. It took me until 30s to figure this out. Still glad I did.

people can, they are that price because they are selling for that price, that's the whole point of market prices. nobody would say "a home in X area is 800K" if they didn't sell for that price.

demand is literally equal to supply at that price. the amount of houses for sale is literally equal to the amount of people who can afford that, that's the whole point.

i was wondering if you'd figure out what i mean by comparing it to taxes, and you dont even know something much simpler than that. jfl at the average person.

And that's when
1) megacorporations swoop in, buy them up, and then rent them out to people so they are forced to be infinite paypigs

3) Chinese people buy it as a tax shelter

Pick one of the three, anon. You clearly don't actually understand how bad the situation actually is and the reality of it.

>>539417832
in many cases, for example, the parents have some mix of cash and property, so often you can get more by the fact you have lived with the parents and taken care of them, and then just give up the cash to get the house, maybe giving up a relatively small amount of your own money to pay them off.

If your siblings don't hate you, they'd generally prefer a painless cash payoff then having to deal with all the annoying stuff that comes with selling the house

Pure retardation. The apartment I used to live in in a 50k people town in the midwest was $750 a month 10 years ago. The same apartment with no updates to it is now $1400 a month last I checked. My mortgage payment on a 300k home, with escrowed taxes and insurance, is $1190 a month. 4 bedrooms. Taxes and insurance are mostly stable and my monthly payment increases by maybe $5 a year. That apartment is gonna keep skyrocketing. That $2400 I save a year more than covers maintenance/once-in-two-decades expenses like a new roof.

If people can't afford a home, don't you think those corporations are then doing people a favor by doing that? I mean, they're not a charity, but by seeking profit, they are providing people with a way in which they can afford a home.

If you were 20 and really hard on your luck, you probably couldn’t relatively easily become a successful fisherman. That’s not true for most people believe it or not. Simply trying to teach you the trade secured you a future to some degree.

>The apartment I used to live in in a 50k people town in the midwest was $750 a month 10 years ago. The same apartment with no updates to it is now $1400 a month last I checked.
I lived in a New Jersey apartment for 15 years. When I moved in the rent was $950/month. When I moved out, after FIFTEEN YEARS, the rent was $1100/month. The new tenant, however, was expected to pay $1700 a month.
When an apartment is occupied, many places have rent laws that prevent large raising in rents, same as fixed-rate mortgages. When a tenant leaves, however, the landlord can restructure the pricing to bring it up to modern equivalence.
I live with my parents now and the house needs new gutters, which will cost $5000. There goes two years of your "savings." I hope you don't have enough appliances that one breaks every year, that would leave your estimates in shambles.

You're an idiot if you can't see the issues with your math.
Renting out of necessity is far more damaging to your finances than renting by choice, by the way.

I always tell young people that the real barrier to entry for home ownership is not just the house prices but all the stuff they’ll have to buy once they buy it. It’s worse than you think because boomers genuinely neglected or destroyed these houses. You’ll buy a $400,000 turd built in the 1960s at 7% and then you’ll immediately find out the inspector lied and you need a new sewer line, structural repairs, a new roof, a new furnace, etc. just for the house to be safe and up to code.

I'm 32 and still live with my parents. But I also travel for work and am only home for like 5 to 7 days a month. I'm not paying rent or a mortgage for a house/condo I will only sleep in 7 nights on average. I also have like $180k in savings.

My advice to youngfags is to go work a job that requires travel. You'll bank more than housecucks and you'll have your housing paid for by your business or employer. Also never get married. If you want kids, move to South America and use a surrogate in your late 30s or early 40s.
>>
>>539415050
it isn't per se. if you have a large house with two flats, or more, in it, then there is no issue with your parents living in one flat and you and your family living in the other. humans had been living in multi generational households for centuries. this atomic bullshit is peak americunt corporate degeneracy.
>>
>>539418702
So they are creating the problem? How? Don't you think they're taking a big risk by paying those massive home prices?
>>
>>539418611
Which is a lot better than what most have done. A lot of young people are going to be shocked to find out when their parents want to retire that they are underwater on the house, have little savings or retirement, and will want them to sustain their lifestyle.

>>539418648
And what exactly are you expecting a bull run for? The AI top has to be priced in already. I don’t see how this bubble does another 10x. Nothing else is growing or has good prospects besides maybe robotics and space flight but 20 years from now and only if AI actually delivers which it won’t.
>>
>>539418790
He's looking at the price of his apartment after it changed tenants, stupid. If he'd stayed in it, the price would be $850/month instead of $1400, and that completely assrapes his "savings" math.
Sitting in an apartment forever in a state or city with strong rent laws is a fantastic housing decision. I would still be doing it myself if COVID and AI hadn't completely fucked my estimated career path.

Realest post in the thread. My dad was a master mechanic, electrician and carpenter but chose to get his back broken in the navy doing shit completely non-transferable to civilian life (operated one of those fuckass cannons on a destroyer for some reason), then sit on his ass watching nascar and smoking 3 packs a day until my brother and I were grown and hadn't had a lick of wisdom or technical proficiency passed on to us(not to mention the daughter he just abandoned from a previous marriage). Our parents idea of raising us was buying us video games and sitting us in front of the TV/computer all day, then wondering why we grew up utterly aimless and ambitionless. He also spent the monthly checks the VA sent for my brother and I until we were grown, which were the closest thing we would have had to an inheritance, on fucking car insurance. I have a family of my own now and haven't spoken to him or my abusive alcoholic mother in years but that one still raises my blood pressure when I think about it. They were early GenX too, but I guess the boomer curse carried over to them. They seem to be the last generation that actually had a chance to do anything but be rent slaves until the end of time, and it evidently went to some of their heads just like the boomers.

There was never a rite of passage where they built wealth without inheritance.

Again according to who? If your family isn't consolidating resources to project itself into the future because it fell for jewish kick-out-your-kids memes then it's too stupid to measure what success even means.

You know who *doesn't* kick their kids out? You know who *doesn't* call their kids losers for living at home in their 30s? Rich people. They just tell YOU that bullshit because they understand where rich people actually come from. They understand that they got rich by previous generations of their family consolidation resources and using them to give their kids power to project their lineage into the future. That's like saying that they charge people low rent for leverage. They clearly don't. So why would they pay more than they have to for all the homes they buy?

I am making perfect sense. Why would they pay so much? Do they have no leverage and have to give away fortunes? Because you just said they're causing the problem, meaning homes would be affordable without them. So they like paying more or what?

>>
>>539421597
>Ok why is it inflated then?
Decades of policy that benefited home owning boomers at the detriment of everyone else, decades of policies that hamper the construction of new buildings, massively inflated amounts of immigration where a full 25% of Canadian's population is now immigrants, and a country where 98% of the population lives within 100 miles of the US border because most of it is an uninhabitable tundra.

Retard.
>>
>>539421764
For most guys its a bad idea to do these jobs. If you are a traditional guy who wants to have a family dont even consider doing these jobs. You will end up making some money but it will not yield you an attractive dating pool of women. You dont want to be the guy funding an aging whore, believe me.
It is better to be the younger guy with good social contacts than the older guy with money surrounded by aging whores. I have made the experience and decided not to have children as a result. You shouldn't be looking for women anyways, as they are all trash. The process is to make money and then expat out to Sputh America, buy a surrogate, and then raise the kid as a single dad. Men need to think outside the box.

Women are all terrible, some are worse than others. The good news is that we'll be rid of them in about 100 years.

Already seeing deflation in a local market here. Nobody can afford the house, even if the house was free, the taxes, insurance, utilities and upkeep are crushing most.
A lot of the demand was jews bulk buying homes and renting them to the plebs, but the plebs now cant even afford the house either way, rented or on a note.
Not saying housing is perma popped, but a correction is coming, and after the world pop hits max 10 billion, the lack of growth thereafter will require people get used deflation.

>>
>>539423762
Do YOU not understand that this is not the case everywhere? Maybe it is in leafland but as I said, in America there are states where rent legally cannot go up faster than inflation. In my own New Jersey example, the rent could not LEGALLY go up more than 4% a year, and my landlord didn't raise it for the first 5 years I was there.
If I had any objection to these terms, I would have found a better apartment elsewhere. That is the advantage of renting - you are not TIED to a place, you are where you choose to be.
