why is big plastic pushing for inferior bottles?

Glass bottles actually give you more microplastic exposure. The soft plastic they used to make the seal on the bottle cap leashes into the fluid. A standard plastic bottle is actually cleaner.
>>
>>539415979
Plastic is cheaper to produce since its already of "waste product" or oil refining.
plastic is lighter, and is more flexible and malliable. Has a lower melting point so is great for industrial injection molding.

Glass you need a high percentace quatz in sand. Its brittle , more dense higher melting point.

Costs significantly more for the corporations vs. disposable PET bottles.
>much higher production cost
>higher weight for transportation
>more fragile for transportation
>recycling requires either transportation of the whole bottle which adds logistics cost
>or breaking down and re-moulding which is significantly more energy intensive than PET bottle manufacturing.
All that said I prefer glass bottles and would love to go back to a world/culture where they were commonly used. But everything is about profit so we won't return to that world until fossil fuels/plastics cost more to engineer than all the bullet points above cost.

Look at the seal on the lid of a standard plastic water bottle, or soda bottle. It's made of hard plastic. Glass bottles use a very soft plastic on the underside of their lid. It gives you way more microplastic exposure. Totally negates using the glass for the bottle.

They probably have to return bottles before they can get more, or pay a big deposit.
Back when glass bottles were used here, a deposit in the 1970s was ten cents which today would be at least a dollar.

Big plastic is run by the femboy lobby, most of you just don't want to admit it.
>>
>>539417261
>it's not cost effective as a disposable container.
Glass bottles weren't originally designed as "disposable containers". You were supposed to return your empty coke bottle to a coke machine (there would usually be boxes or racks of them nearby). The guy who restocks the machine would take them back, where they would be cleaned and re-used.

You can't count on people to give that much of a fuck anymore. Over time, people stopped returning the glass bottles (and also didn't properly dispose of them, which resulted in a lot of broken glass at parks and beaches), which made them less cost-effective, especially with the rising prominence of plastic. It's a problem with people becoming less considerate over time as much as it is a corporate issue.
>>
>>539415979
>why
Cheaper, and also can't be used a weapon.
>>
>>539417582
then why won't niggers stop fucking everything up?
look at zimbabwe and SA (or chicago, baltimore and detroit)
>when whites ruled: safety for your life, electricity and work
>when niggers took over: in less than a decade, niggers lost two decades of life expectancy, murder and rape are rampant, electricity became a luxury and lots of other bad things happening
niggers fuck everything up, so it's just to blame niggers when they exist near a problem. chances are very high for them to be the reaon that stuff is fucked up

>>

You can but explosives in them and turn them into glass frag grenandes. This is the real reason.
>>
>>539418003
I remember milk still being delivered in glass bottles in my area in the '80s.
They would simply collect the used bottles on the next trip.

A nationwide bottle deposit of 50 cents to a dollar could be instituted and you would have bums cleaning up the trash for drug money. It worked for plastic bottles in Michigan at only 15 cents per bottle.

>Inb4 more Big Government
They already do this for electronics and appliances and don't even offer conveniently located recycling drop off locations, so people just chop televisions up and dumping them in the garbage.
Bottle deposit programs have actually worked.
>>
>>539417545
In most of europe you have to pay a deposit on PET bottles and you need to go to a cuck machine to return them and get your deposit back. The Hanses called them pfund machines.
>>
>>539415979
because it's heavier and it's inferior to plastic.
>>
>>539415979
All sodas have a plastic interior lining, including glass bottles. If you drink drinks from any store bought container then you're drinking microplastics.
>>
>>539419194
The contamination is strictly from the caps in glass bottles and results from use of soluble plastics in the gaskets.
Good to know this, but it's something that could be easily remedied.
>>
>>539416075
white kids can handle glass bottles just fine

The glass bottles spend the majority of their time stored upright. Yes there might be some sloshing around but the contamination is minimal when compared to PET bottles.

They came out with studies that already despunked this where they cleaned the bottles with rubber / plastic bristles and found "microplastics" inside them because of this, they also made a few more fake studies saying that it ackshually costs many times more in terms of pollution to melt and reuse glass.

It's mostly because plastic is a byproduct industry, it comes out for free when you process oil so they try to sell it any way they can, including funding literally thousands of studies claiming glass = hitler material.
>>539423707
It's safe to discard all popsci headlines immediately, the industries just pay for them to ensure you make them more money.
These seals last for years and never made the stuff taste like plastic, whereas you can literally taste the plastic in a years-old plastic drink of any kind.
>>

Try to use real words. PET is nasty stuff even for water. I can taste it. PE is fine, it's a wax. I don't know what they use in the bottle top linings because these bots keep saying "soft plastic". It isn't in contact with the fluid and it's a small area so I suspect these "studies" are excuse making. This crap about rubber brushes is obv bullshit. They use a bit dishwasher with jets. My only complaint about glass is the beer bottles are fragile and fishing spots have dangerous shards. Not here but across the border in the republic where people are gross
>>
Almost all glass bottles of coca cola I see now are imported from Mexico. It tasted far better than local stuff because they actually use sugar rather than syrups.
I've moved away from most soda as HFCS replaced cane sugar in almost all of it. RC Cola is the last big one that uses cane sugar but is too expensive to drink

Gawd damn, if this seemingly benign thread isn't under siege.

Sweet.
Gotta save that penny per unit though.
On the subject, I haven't seen a true cork wine stopper for the past 15 years at least.

>Haven't seen a true cork wine stopper
My cousin makes wine and buys these in bulk, he doesn't even factor them into the cost of the wine because they're so cheap.
They're saving literal pennies per bottle of wine using the fake corks, for something like a pop bottle it would be a fraction of this, maybe 1/2 a cent or 1/4.

Not far off; when we talk to others we adopt their words and patterns of speech. That's why /pol/ got so wrecked by the enragement bots; it's diffusion of the Logos and it drives the hive mind. I fight back with neologisms and search them in the archives like tracer isotope shibboleths

I've argued against racists, statists, conservatives, zogbots, jews, glamim and goyim, in that order, spanning decades.
But this ... this drains me.
Societal atomisation is almost complete.
I have no idea how to fight this.
I'm tired.

simulacra etc.

There's no dodging plastic. Then even started replacing wine cork stoppers with plastics mix now it's fucking annoying.
I still only exclusively buy glass bottles for beer and the yearly cola craving but it's only because the flavor profile is more to my liking compared to aluminium cans.

Prove to me ...
No, anon. My point is that lemingness/normalfaggotry/NPCism had leaked into spaces previously inhabited by sentient beings.
It's a token faggotry what's left.

We already called each other niggerjews some months back. I recognise your tracks, so to speak.
I remember calling you an "uppity nigger". I did that exactly for the same reason which drove me to ask about your context size.
Pardon my tardness, but you're a sperg.

The actual answer is that the grinding process that produce feedstocks for glass are very energy intensive. Milling hard material requires a shit ton of power. Aluminum bottles are were we should be moving.
>>
>>539429527
achieving 2000C+ is also an expensive process
>>
They still use glass for soda here. I prefer them because glass holds the carbonation better, and I like a satisfying fizz

Shipping logistics

That's it. Back in the 90s there was HUGE propaganda about how "plastics make it possible" or whatever the marketing term was, every gen x'er remembers the commercials that pushed plastic. Now they don't even hide it and Google straight up tells you glass is more recyclable

Plastic is cheaper, lighter and less prone to breakages. Any other questions you'd like answered?
>>
Glass bottles can be broken for purposes of malicious mischief. For example, breaking these bottles and throwing these shards into public beaches, where they cut open children usually.

We jus can't have nice things because of few degenerates.
