I came up with an entire book series worth of semi-humorous alternate history concepts that actually magically managed to conform to science and reality a couple days ago just playing around. Id just say an AI knows its hardware lasts exponentially longer the cooler it runs, and of course it would seek to establish its brains in the arctic. And maybe even purposely push global warming/extreme cold. Maybe with some nuclear weapons, nuclear winter etc. Maybe theres an AI in the arctic right now. Maybe its a nazi AI, maybe the nazis developed like 80 years of computer wafer design technology in only 8 and the AI said to put itself in the arctic because of the laws of physics that say heat causes chemicals to degrade 2x as fast every 10 degrees or something. You know the Germans invented the first computer right not the British, and after the war it was the only computer in the continental EU for like a decade or more when the dude took his next level stage 3 prototype to Switzerland.
The idea would be instead of laughing the dude out of the room when he wanted to upgrade from switches to vacuum tubes that they actually went dark with the program and hyper-funded it in secret.
Also the first programming language was made by the Germans.
