Essentially, if the US military spends 8 years developing a new type of body armor, or a new missile? Israel gets treated as if they had been working with us on that the whole time and gets all of the same benefit from the work that we do, even if they never spent a dime on it. They just get the benefits of our research and engineering for free. For everything we develop. In addition, they want to do a 'data fusion' between our intelligence networks. This means that there would no longer be US military intelligence and Israeli military intelligence, there would be a single database that we both have access to. It would be impossible, possibly even illegal, for us to have military secrets that Israel doesn't have access to in real time. In theory this goes the other direction as well, but lol if you think they would ever give us anything they didn't want us to have. Israel would not command or control american troops as if they were part of the IDF, just like the President can't order the IDF as our own military. But this bill would still join our two militaries at the hip in a way that would be EXTREMELY difficult and messy to try and disentangle in the future. Gluething two things together is easy, pulling them apart after again is hard and usually involves some chunks getting ripped out of something. Its a completely unthinkable move to even suggest this, to call it a national security concern is massively underselling it.
