the United States will be collapsing within a matter of weeks from lack of oil. even if we leave Iran, we've run out of oil which we can economically frack. It's over. the MSM is covering this up. everyone is covering this up. we're intent on projecting fortitude in order to mask this weakness. our nation has literally just a few weeks left before everything falls apart forever.

this was from the EIA, in january.

>Much of our crude oil production forecast hinges on domestic crude oil prices, especially for onshore production in the Lower 48 United States. We forecast the West Texas Intermediate crude oil price will fall from its 2025 average of $65 per barrel (b) to $52/b in 2026 and $50/b in 2027. These prices are lower than recent breakeven production prices. Oil industry executives responding to the Dallas Fed Energy survey report the two largest basins in the Permian had breakeven prices of $61/b (Midland Basin) and $62/b (Delaware Basin).

and here are our current oil inventories, according to the department of energy.

we've got about 300 million barrels of oil. and once we go under 300 million the cost of extracting it from our reserve caverns drives up massively.

and it continues to drive up the more we pump, until eventually our caverns are unusable, and this will happen anywhere between 70 million barrels and 250 million barrels.

we're using close to 1 million reserve barrels a day, people.

we're in iran right now in order to artificially drive the price of oil up and prolong the inevitable.

it's over. it's over.

your point which appears to be that the United States will be fine when it runs out of oil (the substance upon which our entire society, and our entire civilization as a whole runs upon) is false. just directly, materially, plainly false.
>>
>>539483060
well you're putting words in people's mouths and pretending "they've been saying this for 6 months", and that's directly false. and your comment has nothing to do with actually refuting the facts of my post, which are immutable. let me know when you have a response which actually addresses the points made in the post.

The strategic reserve is not something we 'need' at all.
When the reserve runs dry, it's true the price of oil will go up, and the americans who need it will buy it. And we, as a country will have the money we need to buy oil because we will also be selling oil ourselves, and increasing our production to rake in the profits.

The world is not running out of oil, it's just running out of cheap oil
>>
The Strategic Petroleum Reserve isn't the US oil supply.
>>
>>539483155
>>539483060
and also the united states has been using its petroleum reserves in order to mitigate the price impact of the closure of the strait. i'm certain you know all of this. i'm certain you're only pretending you don't know, in order to evade having to recognize facts.

That is how economies work, yes.
The US will be on average getting wealthier because of the high prices, and that will create opportunities that don't exist today.

Some subsets of people will suffer, but it's jsut a different group from those who are suffering right now.

>>539484234
none of you have explained to my why i'm wrong. one guy >>539483685 >>539483212 doesn't seem to understand the concept of the breakeven prices in the OP (which he probably did not read before posting) and apparently believes we can just buy oil from ourselves, which makes no fundamental sense anyhow.
>>
>>539484392
i posted the united states government official oil reserves and breakeven oil prices from january, along with their assessment that oil prices were going below those prices, which precipitated this iran war. clearly.
>>
>>539484376
you don't understand what i wrote in the OP, then. oil has a breakeven price, which means how much it costs to extract it and prepare it for public consumption. when this breakeven price goes up above the price of oil, our oil companies become unprofitable.

this is why we went to war, which is temporarily keeping these oil prices up higher, but at the expense of all of this money for the war, which we're clearly losing, and which clearly will come with other massive economic factors, if we continue it on indefinitely in order to artifically increase the oil price.
>>
>>539480757
>and it continues to drive up the more we pump, until eventually our caverns are unusable, and this will happen anywhere between 70 million barrels and 250 million barrels.
We have 82 billion in proven reserves, dipshit.
>>
>>539484567
you don't, in any practical fashion, because there's a breakeven price for that oil which is more than the price of actual oil, thus making it uneconomical to extract, which means our entire oil sector is about to implode. and not just "go through a depression" but actually fucking implode and evaporate, like Lehman in 2008. you people are not fucking understanding. this is fucking catastrophic what's fucking coming, and we're literally in this war right now in order to marginally keep our private oil companies profitable, for the short-term.
>>
a 2 trillion dollar hole in the US economy, when the oil companies evaporate. on top of a glaring hole in our energy infrastructure, where we suddenly can produce none. about this same time, we're looking at AI bubbles, and the rising eclipse of china in the global economy, and who else knows what could happen. this is the end. this is the end of the united states.
>>
you don't understand....it's weeks. not years. weeks. this show ends in just a few weeks now, one way or the other. military destruction in iran, along with the associated costs of the war, which are intended to keep the global prices of oil artificially higher in the hopes of keeping our oil companies profitable, is not a good option either.
>>
>>539480757
>we're in iran right now in order to artificially drive the price of oil up and prolong the inevitable.

Nope

The SPR was tapped to keep the price of oil stable so the market wouldn’t collapse. This was done in response to the war in Iran taking so long. That is to say, oil production levels and price manipulation were a result of the war, the war wasn’t due to production or price manipulation.

The original prediction was that the SPR would drop below 300 in August. That’s why there was such a massive push for a peace deal in July that seemed to come out of nowhere.

But emptying the reserves isn’t an exact science, and now they’re predicting September. Since Israel won’t allow a peace deal, the only solution is to walk away or seriously accelerate.
>>
by december, it's over.

this is the timeline.

at some point in Q4, it's finally over.
>>
>>539484880
your post is just "nuh uh". you wrote all of this bullshit, most of which was stuff no one fought about, and your whole point, in the end, was just to be like "nuh uh" on the fact of the iran war motive being for oil, which it clearly, patently was.

this >>539484902 is assuming the united states pursues a quagmire strategy in iran.

in this instance, the united will see wild inflation. wild. much worse than what we witnessed in 2022, for a few months before we're fucked.
>>
>>539484998
Yes. “Nuh uh” s the overarching themes of that post, mostly because you’re wrong.

“We attacked Iran to keep oil prices stable for some reason” isn’t a valid point. It doesn’t make sense. Oil production from US wells hasn’t slowed. The only thing that’s decreased is the SPR, not production. Even your own links (which you didn’t read) atent about production levels.
>>
>>539485087
>>539484902
we'll see the wild inflation because of the reserves running out, getting more and more expensive to pump. and we have no chance of defeating iran. the iranians are not interested in merely giving up, and if ever they were in danger of doing so, then you would have a world war 3 scenario developing with China and Russia, who are economic and military allies with Iran.

and previous conflicts in the middle east prove, conclusively, the people in these nations will not merely easily roll over and cede to US imperialism. there's no chance. taking iran's oil was the US's last ditch effort, we made our play, we failed fantastically, and now the entire nation is slated for certain destruction.
>>
This spell Trump has on markets, making it impossible to price anything because he's so erratic, has turned what was a price problem into a supply problem. I hope you realise that the United States (with an unbelievable amount of money) will increase drilling, production, refining and outright buy deep sea drilling companies with as much money as they can throw at it (again trillions) well before your thesis of collapse materialises.

I think you might also be forgetting the power of the us military, disclosed an undisclosed technology and intelligence groups. We all seen what they did to Venezuela in a matter of days.

you people don't fucking get it anything i wrote in my OP. the breakeven price of the oil is above the price of oil (absent this iran conflict). what this means is oil companies no longer can make profits. ever. ever again. they're finished.

its the end of capitalism. it's the ultimate, unequivocal failure of this 2 trillion dollar capitalist sector of the US economy, which epitomizes our capitalism.

Profitability is irrelevant in our economic model. If a critical industry is in jeopardy the government prints money for them. We have an entire sector of our economy built on sending bombs to a desert shithole on printed dollars and you think they wouldn't do the same for oil and gas?

Let’s run with this.

Oil companies stop making profits on oil,
Crude producers have no one willing to buy crude at that price, there is no demand. They are forced to reduce the price of crude or go out of business.

Or alternatively the oil companies put up the price of their products.

Pretty sure this is basic supply and demand. I’m no expert though.
Oh and also, the Iran stuff only affects under 20% of global supply. There will be more turbulence, price corrections etc. but I don’t see a collapse as immediate as you think. If at all.

>t. 60pbtid FUD shill
Yes, which is why your entire post is retarded given that this is a mere 5% of our daily consumption. Once we can no longer tap into the strategic reserve prices will simply go up a little bit. Or maybe not since China might prefer to release more of their own reserves to minimize what they have to spend on the market. Also, the oil from the reserve is being loaned to refineries who have to restock is it +25% by 2029. And no, we're not about to run out of oil. Proven US reserves are at 45 billion barrels. That's over 2,250 days of US usage, except not all the oil we consume is domestic. And new reserves are discovered all the time, so that's a lower bound.

>>
>>539489261
no. i've discussed this with you people before too. when you pretend "the reserves are only a few percent of our oil production" then that does not fly because it's well known within oil markets that even a 1 or 2% change in supply can swing the price of oil well over 20%. and, for example, as posted about above >>539486783 when the united states first invaded iran we had over $150 per barrel price of physical oil, when the strait only represents 1/5 of the world's oil supply, at most. and, also, the futures price of oil almost doubled, therefore you can clearly see that your half-witted, gross, intentional oversimplification of the way oil markets work is just completely false, and not going to fly in this instance.

you're posting it in hopes of appealing to with with low-information POVs. but it won't fly within this thread.

>>539483999
What do you mean "go away?"
Demand ceases? Surely not.
Supply ceases? No. It gets constrained, but not eliminated.
The abilities to extract, store, and refine crude disappear? No. Unless there's a2nd Carrington event, maybe.

My guess is: (You) read something that was compelling, but you (or the author, or both) don't understand certain fundamentals of petroleum (chemical) engineering or macroeconomics, and have misinterpreted the facts and/or have drawn incorrect conclusions.
>>
>>539490184
listen, why can't any of you just tell me why i'm wrong? there isn't a single reasonable refutation to even 1 point i've presented in my OP, within any of these posts.
>>
>>539490201
you're not reading the OP, or you're intentionally pretending not to understand what i've presented with it, and this is the mendacious premise upon which many of your posts within this thread are based.

you're pretending you don't understand the concept of the price of oil (absent this iran conflict) dropping lower than the breakeven price for producing this oil in the US, which fundamentally renders our entire oil sector worthless, unprofitable.
>>
>>539480757
There is going to be a catastrophe at some point, I just don't know if it's in 2 weeks or 6 months. There's also the el nino coming up to stack with the oil/war situation.
>>
>>539480757
Oil from our reserves accounts for a very small percent of where get get our oil from. Once the reserves are empty, the price will just go up 5-10%.
>>
>>539487852
>you people don't fucking get it anything i wrote in my OP. the breakeven price of the oil is above the price of oil (absent this iran conflict). what this means is oil companies no longer can make profits. ever. ever again. they're finished.

We get that you're a retard, it's pleasant to see how many people agree on that.

Anon, please look at the oil price charts for the past 30 years. You will note that the price of oil has in fact spent significantly long periods below the breakeven price for drilling. Where is your sudden collapse of the whole industry?

In reality, when that price dips, exploration is reduced, but existing wells keep producing. Supply tightens, eventually there is a period of higher prices and exploration increases.

Oil sales don't instantly evaporate when drilling becomes uneconomical, because people arent buying holes, they are buying oil.

If oil prices drop so low that we cant economically produce from existing wells, our oil companies will import crude and focus on refining and chemicals like they did last time the US was priced out.

Furthermore, the inflation adjusted breakeven cost of US oil is actually much lower now than it was 10-15 years ago, and has been quite stable.

Right now the United States is in control of what happens to all the oil chinks and Europe get. It’s hilarious non American flags are celebrating this.
>>
>>539490324
>>539490201
let me explain this:

Oil industry executives responding to the Dallas Fed Energy survey report the two largest basins in the Permian had breakeven prices of $61/b (Midland Basin) and $62/b (Delaware Basin).

more clearly for a few of you....

what this means is that the price it costs for US oil companies to produce oil has risen higher than the cost for the actual oil itself. meaning US oil has become unprofitable. economically worthless in any instance. and this means our oil companies are no longer profitable and are going to collapse like lehman bros did in 2008. when this happens, it will put a 2 trillion dollar hole in the economy, not to mention the fact that our energy needs will be through the roof.

do you understand? it's over for this nation. it's over forever.

the only other meaningful period of time in which this happened was 2015 and hundreds of US oil companies filed for bankruptcy, with the US appearing to be on the verge of economic collapse until the prices went back up....proving my point directly. everything else you wrote is uncited, made-up fictional posting, too.

i can't believe how fucking averse to basic facts you people are on this board. your nation requires oil fundamentally. the entirety of human civilization runs on oil fundamentally. and when your oil companies cannot make a profit under capitalism, they collapse, and leave a 2 trillion dollar hole in your economy which is much worse than what lehman bros and bear stearns left in 2008. you fucking people being like "bruh, we don't even need oil! filthy libtard!" are fucked up beyond belief. just fucked up beyond belief.

He's right about it being the backbone, though. Electric cars are shit and it takes oil to produce them, as well as everything else. Wind and water turbines, true, but negligible by comparison. Nuclear facilities, centrifuges, all the equipment required to refine and build it... still require oil(trucks, backhoes, forklifts, ships to move parts, etc)
>>
>>539490621
once more, there's only 1 meaningful time when this happened >>539491243 and hundreds of US oil companies filed for bankruptcy. and what's different between then and now is that the breakeven price for oil was going lower back then, as we improved our fracking extraction technologies. but, now, we're in the inverse of that situation with the extraction prices for fracking rising FFS. i might as well tag >>539490455 just in the off-chance that he's generally interested in the truth instead of just his fictional pseudohistorical propaganda.

>>
>>539491598
went over this above >>539488181 >>539488365 and once more the breakeven price of fracked oil is ____rising____ now, as opposed to back then when it was rapidly ____lowering____. we're in the inverse of that time period, not the equivalent of it.

we knew back then, basically "pretty soon our oil companies will be profitable again". whereas right now we have no visible path to making our oil companies, ever again, profitable.

to be clear, just to answer this point directly, in 2015 the major oil companies were not very exposed to shale drilling, which they are now. and the 100s of companies which filed for bankruptcy were smaller, and the larger companies did not file for bankruptcy in 2015 but this is because they were not exposed to this method of oil extraction which they objectively are now.

i predict you won't face these facts. i predict you will continue to ignore facts and double down.

America is currently the largest net exporter of oil in the world. I know that's too much for your disgustingly pathetic mind to understand, but the one that controls the oil, does not run out of it. It's everyone else that runs out of it. The one that controls it decided; and that's currently America.

anon I'm not really versed in this topic as you clearly are, but out of curiosity : it's the entire 2T economy in extraction ? Technically, if you import crude and export refined products , isn't that part of the economy unrelated to the actual extraction from your own soil?

Interesting that USA might get raked before this shithole I live in. Stay safe anon, I believe you and understand your points and you are 100% right. So many shills angry at you in this thread when your points are very easy to understand. It's as if these retards do not also understand that U.S. Oil companies are NOT nationalized, they are private companies that will export to the highest bidder. They need the West to collapse to play the false Savior role and they are doing exactly just that. USA was founded by jews 250 years ago and it's time to flush it down the toilet as it was intended, just like the WTC towers that they built to destroy them in a ritual 25 years ago.

Canada will be the next target for USA. I'm actually surprised they went for Iran before us. Why not just seize all Canadian oil? We are extremely easy to conquer by land. Our military is 1940 tier. It also already plausible that Canada is ALREADY incorporated as a U.S. State. We would not even know about it. Anyhow the U.S.A. is a corporation of the Swiss/City of London/Vatican jews and not even a real country, never has been.
>>
>>539496434
Because as much as online activists like to edgy post there is not actually any conceivable way for the US to invade Canada without facing crippling sanctions from every single other civilized nation on earth. The US is very powerful but that would damage them several magnitudes more than bombing some random shitskins would. It would also lead to trump being immediately removed from power unless he somehow made himself a dictator because 95% of politicians and citizens wouldn't support it. It's not like his current war efforts which still have basically every Republican on his side.
