Democrats are objecting to the Stop Insider Trading Act (H.R. 7008) primarily because Republicans bundled it with restrictive national voter ID requirements and left major loopholes for existing stock portfolios. While most Democrats broadly support a congressional stock trading ban, they have forcefully rejected this specific legislation as a partisan "Trojan horse".
>>
>>539500717
If SAVE was such a heckin’ good bill they’d be no need to sneak it in on another bill. Doesn’t seem to actually have its own legs because it sucks and you know it. Typical MAGAtards: creation a problem from a non- existent issue and create a solution that fucks as many people over as possible.

If it’s too late for the Left to gerrymander, it’s too fucking late for the Right to push this piece of craptastic piece of legislation as well. Maybe in time for ‘28…

“I’m very disappointed in it. It’s a stock trading ban that still allows stock trading. It’s a weak bill,” Rep. Seth Magaziner, D-R.I., part of a bipartisan coalition that has advocated for a more thorough ban, told CNBC.

House Republicans also attached a voter-identification provision to the measure, eroding some Democratic support. Democratic leaders urged their caucus to vote against the bill.

Meanwhile, Trump is going to start charging the major trading funds $100,000 a month for a second's early access to his market manipulation "Truths".

>A Wall Street backlash is mounting over a proposal by Donald Trump’s social media company to charge for high-speed access to his posts, as industry executives balk at the fee and raise questions over potential legal jeopardy.

>Nasdaq-listed Trump Media & Technology Group, which owns Trump’s social media platform Truth Social, last week announced a new data service that would provide “faster” access to posts from the top accounts on the website within milliseconds. Multiple people familiar with the matter said that access to the service was being touted at a fee of $100,000 a month. …

>It has also brought a slew of legal questions for Wall Street, as financial firms and their lawyers try to decipher the potential risks of paying for access to the president’s thoughts and views before anyone else. Multiple lawyers described the product as a legal minefield.

>Richard Painter, professor of corporate law at the University of Minnesota and former White House ethics adviser to President George W Bush, said the plan could pose legal risks for firms that subscribe to it.

>“If I were the general counsel of any of these institutional investors I would say, ‘Don’t even touch this unless Truth Social will guarantee there will be no advance notice of any posts that contain information about the actions of the United States government,’” he said.

Both parties do this, not just the Democrats. The Right is determined to pass SAVE, the Left are going to object to any bill that contains SAVE legislation. Get used to it. At some point, it will be too late to pass SAVE legislation this close to midterms. Trump’s already has a plan B where he is attacking and undermining the electoral process and later shut down the election due to “inconsistencies” like finding a non-citizen voter’s name on the list. From there he’ll be claiming that Article II of the Constitution gives the President absolute authority over the entire executive branch, including the power to direct all executive actions and fire subordinate officials at will, and then null the results of a fair and democratic vote.

That’s like .001% (6600/6.69M eligible voters) and those 6600 voters are split between parties. Also this was a glitch that registered them, not an attempt at defrauding the voting system. It’s possible this glitch could have been intentional by someone who was interested in undermining the election process by manufacturing an issue that would otherwise have never occurred.

Regardless they know the names, the people that were unintentionally added to the list are most likely unaware that they were now registered voters so most likely were not going to vote anyways. The voters were split on their political beliefs.
Basically rendering the few votes in either direction pretty insignificant.

If nothing, catching this glitch- with all potential players named— should only further increase your confidence that our electoral process is safe and secure.

At least it wasn’t a bunch of redacted documents that actually contradicted your belief that the Chinese were undermine our electoral process.

It was also reported as a glitch at the DMV. The governor had nothing to do with the DMV’s computer fuck-up. What I dont understand about US voting is, don't you have to register to vote? Why don't they just mark people off and cross reference to make sure there's no double ups? And make sure you're a citizen when you register. I've heard rumours that you can double vote in Aus, but my name and address is in a book, they mark me off when I vote, and I'm pretty sure they cross reference to make sure I don't go to every booth and vote.

They didn’t though. Only 400 of them are known to have casted a ballot. It has also been noted that they may have only participated in local voting rather than for the President himself

.00005979% of the 6.69M eligible voters in New Jersey. That’s definitely going to move the needle.

no, he's right, they passed a law and then like the next year in the first day of the legislative session they repealed it unanimously so it lasted like 3 months
>>
>>539505307
They also said that only 400 or so did so and that they were most likely interested in the local issues. Not all 400 voted against trump so many of them ended up billing each others votes out making it further unlikely that this had an effect on the outcome. Before get all concerned about those poor American votes that were nulled out, keep in mind that they may have GOP has been actively gerrymandering in an effort to nullify votes by redrawing voter districts to work in their favor. The SAVE act is yet another attempt to confuse, disenfranchise, and discourage legal voters from voting.
>>
>>539505468

NJ's map was gerrymandered by the dems, it's super favorable to the dems and before you
>muh independent council
the majority of members were dems and there was a lawsuit over it and the dem judge said the previous map was better for republicans so this one was fine despite disenfranchising like 1/3rd of the state
>The SAVE act is yet another attempt to confuse, disenfranchise, and discourage legal voters from voting.
the save act is to stop states like NJ from letting illegals vote
>>
>>539505468
The 2012 bill to prevent insider trading is the STOCK Act (Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act). Signed into law by President Barack Obama on April 4, 2012, it explicitly banned members of Congress and federal employees from trading stocks based on nonpublic information they obtain through their official government positions.
>>
>>539503352
Actually it's now 1.5 million, update your numbers
>>
>>539505512
The 2012 STOCK Act was not entirely repealed, but its core transparency provisions were quietly and significantly rolled back in April 2013. Congress fast-tracked an amendment (S.716) that eliminated the requirement to post the financial disclosures of roughly 28,000 senior federal employees online in a searchable public database.

It’s still on the books as law.
>>
>>539505965
Well, how do you support the gerrymandering which essentially negates votes by moving districts around? How do you support the SAVE act which will terribly complicate the process with last second changes and discourage legal voters from casting their votes? We’re probably looking at hundred of thousands rather than a few hundred
>>
>>539506042
>Major amendments
>Amended by S.716 on April 15, 2013[1]
> It was considered by the Senate and passed by unanimous consent the same day. On April 12, in the House, S.716 received only 14 seconds of discussion before being passed by unanimous consent;
they immediately gutted it
>>
I find it hilarious that voter ID is even a debate in the US. No one in their sane mind here would think it would be okay to vote without an official ID.
>>
>>539506190
they gutted it by unanimous consent and the house debated all of 14 seconds on it. the only enforcement mechanism are the congressional ethics committees which don't enforce the law
>>
>>539505982
It’s a trap. Passing the SAVE act would be acknowledgment that our voting system has totally failed. It hasn’t. The fact you rely on the examples which have actually proven how wrong you really are about the integrity of the voting process.

Shit, Trump literally had to lie in front of our Nation about the Chinese undermining our voting process and then releasing some shitty redacted documents that actually contradicted his claims only further exposes the desperation in the GOP to undermine the system to protect their cult leader.
>>
>>539505982

>The third of the state is disenfranchised simply because they are the minority and will never win an election in its current form. This is literally just another manufactured issue to rile the party up again.
it's gerrymandering. Trump won 46% of the vote in NJ in 2024 but the GOP only 25% of the congressional seats from NJ. we have 3/12, we should have 5 or 6.
>Prove that this glitch wasn’t intentionally created as a red flag to “expose” an otherwise non existent issue.
why would murphy, a democrat who hates the US intentionally register illegals and then cover it up to help trump?
>>
>>539506081
The 35K+ was just grandpa shitposting again. Spokesperson Darwin Pham said that the governor's office did not know how DHS had arrived at its figure (35,152), and that the 6,600 figure Sherrill cited came directly from the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, where the faulty software was installed.

>I find it hilarious that voter ID is even a debate in the US
Democrat voters support it 70+% and Republican voters support it like 90+%; the topic really shows the current dysfunction in our political system. Basically there are a few Republicans that hate Trump so much they would rather watch the country burn than help pass a bill to secure our elections.

As far as the Democrats go its pretty fucking alarming that the party leadership acknowledges their party platform cannot win without illegal voters......that is fucking CRAZY when you think about it. What is the point of the party anyway if not to reflect the will of the voters? What does it say that instead of fixing your party platform to address the real constituency you would rather rely on illegal votes....... wtf?

Its mindblowing, and its fucking sad, its enraging actually.
>>
Let’s be clear here: the SAVE Act is smoke. And where there’s smoke there has to be a fire, right? Just another attempt to undermine the current system by casting doubt on its legitimacy. It really won’t matter if it actually passes or not, the damage is done. The fact that anyone would try to pass such a bill must mean that a problem exists.

For those with your heads intentionally buried deep up each other’s arses, this has always been the Right’s modus operandi: Create a non- existent problem, create solutions that make everyone miserable and confused. Now it’s simply creating solutions to non-existent problems simply for the sake of undermining our faith in a system. That is after all, what conspiracies are all about. Lies. Repeating lies, sowing doubt. Don’t give in, hold on to that which is true. As American citizens we are tasked with the responsibility of defending our Constitution and its Amendments. The current administration in good faith cannot survive under our current laws. You witnessed it time and again, the willingness to bend, break, or circumvent our constitutional rights and laws.

It’s really a sad birthday gift to our country assholes. We can do so much better.

Democrats agree that non-citizens should not vote. Non- citizens voting frequently enough to move the needle enough to affect an outcome. The courts have rejected the idea on several occasions that there is significant voter fraud. While there are cited examples of fraud perpetrated by both major parties, there is not one claim- or shred of evidence— that fraud has significantly altered the outcome of an election, only that it exists. Even the President has stopped short of claiming that fraud had altered the outcome but chose to claim it was occurring on a massive scale (Trump is notorious for citing big numbers). You read between the lines, just another attempt to undermine our faith in a system that actually works. He knows better than to lie and claim any specific incident changed the outcome of the 2020 election, only that he lost because of this generalization of “fraud”. His evidence was bullshit; it contradicted his claims. He’s fear mongering and softening the battlefield so he can claim without proof, that the ballot box was poisoned and that the vote, nulled if he can’t get the SAVE act to pass. Pass this crap legislation, you play right into his hands.

Because everyone time someone gives you sources, you deny they are valid, I have even give you leftists lists of 6600 court cases that resulted in convictions against voter fraud that resulted in over 200,000 fraudulently votes cast. Many were in the same districts that won by slim margins enough that over 200 elections could've been changed. Yet you still use an endless list excuses to use to deny it.
But none of this matters. Just pass the act. It costs nothing, and by your metric will do nothing so why not pass what Americans want? What are you afraid will happen if there is less chance for illegal aliens to commit fraud?

I’m calling your bluff. You’re just repeating something you read elsewhere but did not actually use these sources to look this data up yourself.

There in itself is the problem. A majority of Americans don’t want the SAVE Act otherwise it would just fly through the House and Senate and be passed as law by tomorrow evening. Instead the President has practiced coercion by refusing to sign on a popular bi- partisan housing bill because they won’t pass his Save Act. Fortunately, he had enough wits not to be that guy that stomped on much needed housing relief so he allowed it to pass. Next he promised proof positive (actually some heavily redacted papers that contradict his claims) that the 2020 was rife with fraudulent votes and that- ready for it— only the SAVE Act could correct our failed voting system. Earlier this week, there was an attempted Trojan horse by attaching the SAVE Act to a very popular bill that would limit insider trading within the government (without actually being transparent) and then claiming those not supporting this bill were in favor of insider trading.

Stop trying to make the SAVE Act a thing! It will never be a thing.

- U.S. Citizenship: You must be a United States citizen. Non-citizens, including permanent residents (green card holders) and undocumented immigrants, are legally prohibited from voting in federal elections.

- I never claimed that they didn’t vote in and that it was related to the NJ DMV’s glitch involving 6600 immigrants (not necessarily illegal ones) erroneously ending up on a voter registration. It’s disputed as to how many actually voted.
- I didn’t. I said they supported the 2nd amendment. Your claim was they were actively trying to dismantle it.
- we actually do respect the Constitution and all of its amendments. Again, more propaganda from the Right. Seriously dude, have you ever seen any other President who was at such odds with our court system despite it being handpicked by himself? Trump and the GOP cannot survive under the current legal framework so they have been actively dismantling it.

Polls Show 84% American Support For Photo ID Voting—Trump Urges Congress To Act

That does not mean that they support Trump’s act specifically, only that they more or less agree that voters should provide some sort of photo ID. Most people have an id, we’ve now got Real ID which requires a passport and/or other verifiable identification. A universal ID starts resembling those legendary “where are your papers, citizen vibe”.

Besides, it’s logistically too late to introduce yet another ID into what promises to be a very confusing midterm election in the next 3 months. Yet another burden to discourage less than enthusiastic or incapacitated voters. The Right has run the numbers, they know the authenticity of “mass voter fraud” can be supported by the SAVE Act. Without solution as proof positive that our voting process has failed, it’s going to be a shit show trying to claim voter fraud when the GOP gets their asses handed to them in the midterms

What people want in general principle doesn’t necessarily translate to actual practice.

That’s actually your logic- that projection. But yeah, a majority of Americans support the 2nd amendment. Gun laws are a separate issue but they are not an attempt to diminish the 2nd amendment so much as clarify gun owners responsibilities and the limitations that those responsibilities infer. You can own a gun. No, you can’t stand in your skivvies shooting at the neighbor’s Prius from you back deck. See how that works? no, none of the federalist papers support that. furthermore, article I section 8 clauses 15 and 16 already say
>To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;
>To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

Here’s the thing- you provided a signature when registering for the poll. You must sign the polling book before you get your ballot. Meanwhile, your in-house signature is matched with your original registration form containing your signature plus all the id crap required to register.
