i was 22 in 2010, in college, the best time of my life hands down, graduated and got straight in to a comfy IT job with a high pay, 5 years later they outsourced my job to india, happened to so many others too
>>
>>539500910
2017-2018 was awesome.
>>
>>539500910
There were no jobs for young adults, shitskins stole them all. Yes I would have picked fruits or flipped burgers for some extra cash to move out but literally no (0) jobs were available.
>>
>>539500910
no it wasn't. the market crash in 2008 still sucked the life out of the 2010s and then everything became gay and racist.

None of what's in that post is even slightly accurate, the OP and the person who wrote it should commit sudoku within the next two weeks

Late 90s through early 2000s were peak.
Post Great Recession was pretty baller if you were employed. Everything was cheap.
Obama's 2nd term sucked and things didn't pick up until the latter half of Trump's first term.
I mean I get everything prior to COVID is sunshine and roses but I wouldn't put the 2010s as peak. Not that I was alive, but a stronger argument could be made for the 60s.
>>
2010s is when everything went to shit, endless culture war and identity politics, obama setting back race relations, music got whittled down to pop and pop rap, movies became nothing but remakes and capeshit, i could go on and on
>>
>>539500910
This wasn’t true unless you were in IT or lived in Silicon Valley. I graduated high school in 2010 and holy shit, the job market was dead. I couldn’t get a job as a dishwasher (and I tried many times). So many of my classmates’ parents were out of work. I had to enlist, which financially worked out well for me.
>>
The 2010's were fucking garbage.

Just as bad as now if not worse.

Glad it's over.

Yes and no. Late 2000s and 2010s kinda blur into a single timeline for me.
The late 2000s weren't good and all the crap he's talking about under Obama isn't true.
>Job market was trash
>Degrees became worthless
>Gas was expensive
But yeah, your electronics and other luxury goods were relatively cheap... And you also owned them and they didn't try and sell you a subscription every 5 minutes.
>Trump's first term is when shit picked up.
>Sudden hiring boom
>Gas got cheap as fuck
>People weren't fully social media brainwashed.
That first term was a lot of good memories. COVID fucked up everything. We never recovered, and Trump's 2nd term is basically a fuck you to his voters

Of course we think the 2010s were a great time. It was the last needed distraction to keep the last bits and pieces of total global enclosure. Giving the last generation with any understanding of life before the end of history a bunch of drugs, videogames and parties was a great way to keep us from doing fuck all and prepping us for covid to seal the deal.

Why do zoomers insist on retconning milennial young adulthood? The 2010's were defined by a total restructuring of the economy post-2008. Many jobs either disappeared or were consolidated into other roles. Gig work was a direct result of collapsing job security. Rising rent was a huge issue to the point they brought back van life, minimalism, and the tiny home movement. Also tech was the only field doing well because it was propped up by west coast VC money, the rest of the job market has been in a slow and consistent decline so if you didn't SWE it up in California from 2013-2018 you are only slightly better than a zoomer in terms of how permafucked you are.

U.S. economic growth remained under 3% for every single calendar year from 2008 through 2016, marking a unique period following the Great Recession. Annual real GDP growth rates during this timeframe hovered at low levels before a slow, steady labor market recovery.

I was born in the early 90s back when the Soviet Union still existed. The 2010s mostly sucked although I will say 2019 was the best year of my adult life. I actually started to feel hopeful about the future. Well then 2020 came and it's been downhill ever since..
