its the only way to appease god and stave off evil powers and principalities. in orthodoxy we keep 200 days of fasting every year. oh and we eat soup. lots of soup,this also reduces bowel cancer rates

I'm no expert but isn't sugar ok to eat while fasting since it's plant based, honey is forbidden on the other hand. Still you should avoid sugar if you want to lose weight.
