Historically, guys like Trump try to make it a family enterprise. When 2028 is approaching, they’ll astroturf someone from the Trump family to be the heir to MAGA. Toss in all of the mental anguish he must have suffered being dragged in and out of court rooms for purely political purposes, and having people try to kill him because of all of the above... The bigger obstacle are the nearly-invisible array of officials who would balk. Nameless appointees and minor officeholders who would just refuse to print ballots with his name on it. The dozens of district court judges issuing injunctions. ***Maybe*** if he hadn't been a lazy failfuck and had been carefully undermining them... coercing retirement here, impeaching there, he could have dealt with those.
