I had exactly two jobs when I was still working that offered me vacation and paid sick time, only one of them really honored it and he was the far less "lucrative" job he was just a nice ass guythe other gave me endless shit for ever trying to take any of it

Virtually all jobs in the USA have allowed time off. It simply isn't required by the government. Just like how most jobs pay well above minimum wage. Even shitty retail jobs that require no education or qualifications pay like 50% above minimum wage as their starting pay.
