>>539533588>What's the Governments current plan for the tick outbreak?Keep it going.There are two things that have led us to this tick epidemic (not even considering alpha gal).One is the destruction of ground bird habitat. Ground birds, like grouse or pheasant are the only animal check against ticks. They need reasonably large swaths of land to live, and highways and subdivisions have destroyed that. The biggest threat to these birds is feral cats. Feral cat populations need to be culled dramatically.The other factor (ironically, given the first) is our forest fire prevention. Brush fires are an intrinsic part of the ecosystem. They burn small plants and grasses that ticks use to travel, and burn the leaf litter the ticks live in. We would have much nicer, healthier, relatively tick-free forests if we just let them burn occasionally.
I hate ticks so much. They need to do more research on Lyme disease and come up with cures. They cure it in dogs...
