>USD/JPY trades around 163.70, marking a modest pullback on Friday after reaching a fresh near 40-year high.

>Japan's Finance Minister, Satsuki Katayama, has said that Japan will take decisive action in the currency market if needed, signalling Tokyo's readiness to intervene in the market as the yen slid to a 40-year low. Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara also said on Wednesday the government was ready to "respond as appropriate at any time" in a sign of Tokyo's alarm over the sagging currency, which pushes up the cost of imports and broader inflation.

>The US dollar stayed near a fresh 39-year high in the lower 163 yen range on Wednesday, as safe-haven buying driven by escalating tensions in West Asia appeared to outweigh Japan's warning that it was ready to take appropriate action if needed.

>The yen's weakness has become a growing issue for Japan's policymakers, given its role in driving up import prices and household living costs. Decades of ultra-loose monetary policy and sustained heavy government borrowing have contributed to yen weakness, although these are not the sole drivers.

For me, weaker yen means more money I can spend during my visit to Japan.

theres ways you could leverage it without totally destroying everyones purchasing power domestically. problem is, their financial sector is still radioactive, so theyd have a hard time rly getting ANYTHING going anymore, nvm manufacturing

Don't forget that all currencies went down. It's just that the yen was debased more by the bank of japan than the dollar was debased by the federal reserve. The central bankers, these criminals without any exception, want that you compare the currencies to each other instead of to the past. The "DXY" started with 100. It's a 100 currently again: https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/TVC-DXY/?timeframe=ALL
The problem is that it compares the devalued dollar against the other devalued currencies. If you compare the dollar with older dolalrs, you'll get this:

39 dollar cents for a double cheeseburger.
