Sunday I noticed it was 76° in my house (92° outside). I peaked outside and saw that my condenser fan wasn’t turning. I opened the panel and sure enough the damn capacitor was swollen. I cut the power at the breaker, discharged the capacitor, and made it to Home Depot 10 minutes before they closed. I was back to playing Elden Ring maybe an hour after noticing it was slightly warmer than usual.

Could Europeans have done that? Do they need a special license to work on their own AC’s? Would they even know how?
>>
>>539542066
Genghis Khan would be the giant outdoor one.
>>
>>539542845
These capacitors don’t last nearly long enough.

same thing as conservative just way more of a pain in the ass
I replaced the window unit this year with one of those since when I took the window one out after last summer I figured out where all the damn stink bugs were coming from, there was like a fucking nest of them INSIDE the window unit
since you can block off the window opening but the A/C itself is like this maze they can easily get into the house through, at the cost of some lives while it's running

I live in Russia. On average we have maybe 15 days a year when you want to turn on the AC. We have maybe 150 days a year when I turn this on.

(Still would've got an AC, but drilling a hole in a one meter thick brick wall is a CRIME)

You can also get them at ACE Hardware. But you can also just go off the spectrum with a ducted Minisplit system. Uses traditional air handler set up with an outdoor inverter system. Just got one put in yesterday, way better airflow in the house and humidity is down for once. Can set the temp a little higher. Uses half the current as the old single stage compressor, no more vintage dips or capacitor shenanigans.
>>
>>539543211
Lol, nice wumao checklist.
Let's line up for gutter oil based bat soup then we head straight to the execution vans.

Central HVAC (outdoor condenser + indoor air handler/furnace)
Typical lifespan: 15–20 years

High‑quality units: up to 25 years with good maintenance

Reason:

Larger, more durable compressors

Better airflow and heat dissipation

Designed for continuous seasonal operation

Serviceable components (capacitors, contactors, fan motors, etc.)

Window / Wall AC units
Typical lifespan: 5–8 years

Cheap units: sometimes only 3–5 years

Reason:

Small compressors that run hotter

Poor ventilation around the unit

Lower build quality

Not designed for heavy daily use in hot climates like Dallas
>>
>>539552787
Lots of New Irish around. Be careful.
>>
>>539552701
