Because many of them are leeching off others, like their parents or tax payers.
They complain about how terrible and basedld crushing it is to participate in society, but they don't seem to have any problem making others do so to sustain their own existence.
Obviously this does not apply to those unable to work due to true disability or who significantly contribute in other ways, like caring for elderly parents or maintaining the household while someone else works.

I guess some people think of criminals as a distinct class or personality type, whereas anyone could be a NEET. So for those people think might see NEEThood as more threatening.
