I buy most of my steak and chicken from the supermarket but in the last three years or so I've noticed it's all full of water and it makes the food barely edible. The chicken is indigestible once you cook out the water and the steak bloats up like a balloon in the pan, it is also as tough as old leather boots.

I make it to the butchers when I can afford it but mostly I'm stuck with shopping at the supermarket like millions of others.

Are they trying to wean us off meat?

Grow your own chicken

well you seem to be one of the first brits to ever attempt cooking something palatable

according to my advanced calculations the answer is just £, with most people preferring to pay less over getting higher quality

just go to a proper butcher shop anon

They're trying to not increase the price on the package by compromising quality. Many such cases now.

most people don't care as long as it's cheap.
you don't know how something will taste when you buy it, but you can instantly see the price.
idk how significant it is, but the uk was getting a decent portion of eu funding for the common agriculture policy, and that obviously isn't a thing any more.
uk farming is at a disadvantage compared to most countries considering the constraints on land and legislation.

Food quality has generally cratered since Brexit. there's a reason so much stuff has "not for EU" scrawled on it somewhere.

They need a loicense for that.

more supermarkets are using super fast growing chickens that are cheaper but can grow bad and it makes the meat weird, google woody breast

Waitrose still does normal speed growing chickens but its more expensive. Kfc is shit because of this too

Basically we need ai to help us make fast growing but not shit chickens

You are being Americanized. You’ll pay more for less and this cycle will continue until it cannot.

To ease you up to the idea of meat alternatives/lab grown meat

>Why is supermarket meat quality getting worse?
