If you are a landlord and you actually make any money from your rentals, then you are ripping off your tenant, etc.It was most clearly seen in feudal days when you physically had to give a fraction of your belongings to the lord or work his land for free, so it had to be dressed in religious mysticism. Now it is a lot more opaque, and with the power of modern propaganda more robust than it ever was. Instead of work the lords land for free for half of your time, you are just paid wages which are half of your real productivity, and told to be grateful.
