The US (and Japan) was signatory to the 1929 Geneva Convention for the Amelioration of Sick and Wounded in the Field, which forbids intentionally targeting hospitals and ambulances. When they dropped those bombs they were certain they would destroy hospitals. War crime.(Fun fact Hiroshima was the 2nd most Christian city in Japan. The 1st? Nagasaki.
