These people need to be released from the medical horrors beyond comprehension that we are capable of inflicting. We can do all sorts of wild shit to save a life, but its meant to be a bridge not a lifestyle. I have a kid that drowned when he was 9, hes been ok a vent, braindead, for 30 years. His arab parents never visit and everything someone wrong happens its more tubes to drain whatever. Its sickening to my heart to watch his little body struggle though infection after infection, growing all kinds of drug resistant nonsense. You dont hate the coward families who wont let these undead corpses just die with dignity enough. They would rather keep it "alive" in agony just so they arent "responsible" for letting braindead Johnny, or stroked out grandma die...

They have some level of reflexes remaining. Brain death means brain stem death. Not persistent vegetative state with no recovery.

Its incredibly easy to wind up full of tubes and on machines to mechanized your bodily functions if things go badly. You need good health care proxies that would never allow it if you were ever incapacitated. I do, my friends are healthcare workers as well, we have all vowed to snuff one another out if the other two agree they have become incapacitated with no hope of recovery. You need friends like that. Who love you so much they would bear that responsibility.
