If it malfunctions or self‑destructs after losing lock, or hits the ground, the entire high‑explosive payload detonates on impact, producing a very large ground explosion. In contrast, PAC‑3 is hit‑to‑kill with a much smaller lethal enhancer, so its ground impact creates a far smaller blast. This interceptor on vid was clearly PAC-2 because explosion was quite large
