I don't think this woulda worked. It included a bunch of trucks full of USGIs going into downtown Tehran in the middle of the night. First off, in Tehran prior to the Revolution it would take literally ALL DAY to get from the airport or hotel to some meeting on the other side of the city in a taxi, because among other things the streets would change DAILY if not hourly, as far as WTF path might be open. And at night all sorts of people would "spread out" for the night and even less open paths. Iranians are famously "nosy" (pardon pun) and need to know everyone's beeswax. 1/2 dozen trucks pushing through that night's tent city? Every Iranian grandma is going to need to find out WTF is going on.And official anti-counter Revolutionary check points would be no fucking joke, and backed by scads of guys with pretty heavy weapons of top tier US quality and training.I just don't see how it could possibly work.
