Thiel, Musk, and the rest all want JD in the big chair but know he can't win an election
So they've got people whispering in Trump's ear that he can just ignore the constitution and run for another term
If he actually follows through on it, they spring the trap, have JD and the rest 25th him, and install JD as president
The ideal time to do this would be right after midterms, which lines up with 2022 when Trump announced he was running for a second term within days of those midterms
