If they had artillery and air power similar to the US it would be less disproportionate for sure but in the kind of war they are in where Russians generally are moving in small (or even single man) groups on foot the drones are much more efficient anyway. And better. The usual routine we had was to scope out a target and call in arty or air strike and the kill chain might take several minutes with nearby artillery or longer otherwise for air… and the target will probably have displaced from the coordinates anyway. We had those programmed airburst grenade launchers designed to blow up behind cover and guess what, they were actually pretty useless because the taliban knew you can do this amazing thing called “get up and walk away from the position you were firing from.” With an FPV drone there is zero disconnect, the operator just sees you and will chase you down and there isn’t much you can do about it besides get a lucky shot or dodge it (and probably still get maimed and finished off anyway instead of blown in half).
