He asked if I'd spoken to the doctors and I told him the situation. From then he explained how it'll work if my doctor signs me off; you'll either be considered fit to work despite your issues, to have limited capability which allows you to receive the full standard amount of £450ish a month while also earning up to £400 a month from work, or to be unable to work which entitles you to PIP. SO I think I'm just going to be honest with my doctor on the phone because I have been seriously fucked up recently, essentially attempted suicide by drunk driving last weekend. I should at least get the 'limited' thing which would allow me to earn enough to get by while having enough free time to sort my shit out. And if they assess me as unfit for work, I'm definitely pursuing social housing.

If you're going the mental health route then it's mostly just about having to be 'prompted' to do things like washing your balls and cooking your tendies, if you are proper spazzed then i guess you wouldn't be asking. It's not complicated stuff but the government have outsourced most of it and they will refuse a lot of applications at first. They'll then send out some spastic social worker to have a chat with you at home and at that point you just don't make much eye contact with them and look confused or frustrated at having to communicate. That's how it went with me anyway. All pretty straightforward. Repeat every three years or until you have to go to tribunal.
