I’m convinced Gen Xers have vastly more in common with boomers both culturally and politically than millennials. Every Gen Xer I’ve ever met is just a slightly more liberal version of the average boomer. This is why 2028 will be between Rubio and Newsom not Vance and AOC because even though boomers are dying out Gen X are basically boomer lite and have largely establishment views. Millennials are more numerous than Xers but have nowhere near their level of power and influence and Zoomers don’t even vote.
