I just can't wrap my head around why Russia continues this pointless war in Ukraine that costs them more than the land they own. They already own 20% of Ukraine, and Ukraine would accept any reasonable peace deal. All I can think of is that this has to be some ego or superiority thing. They just can't accept that they can't defeat their little brother.
>>
>>539660524
>Russia didn't collapse
Saving face status?
>>
>>539660723
It's true, their lives are only 30% more miserable, well within Russian tolerance levels.
May as well throw another 100,000 lives on the fire.
>>
The gays are using ukraine as a platadarm to attack russia
>>
>>539660864
But sanctions failed,. Russia stands, terrorism and pirating is a desperate show of display.
>>
Russian leadership probably experiences this war as existential because all of them will be gone if they lose/withdraw.
>>
>>539660524
I'm not a shill, but let me tell you what I think will happen to Russia in the best-case scenario:

Russia will get the territories it calls Novorossiya.

Russian taxpayers will foot the bill for reconstruction; it will be a slow process, and the people there will become dissatisfied. After a few years, there will be another Maidan, and they'll rejoin Ukraine.
>>
>>539660524
Same could honestly be said about the opposite side, especially considering this is not even a genocidal war
what is the worst that happens if Ukraine surrenders? they become another puppet state? that is honestly far better than being sent to the meat grinder because the EU and the US want it to somewhat weaken Russia.
>>
>>539661004
>and they'll rejoin Ukraine
There will not be a ""Ukraine"".
>>
>>539661040
>what is the worst that happens if Ukraine surrenders?
Russia invades again in another 10 years. Russia obviously isn't going to stop its military expansion.
>>
>>539660524
Because if Putin admits defeat and withdraws he will be coup'd. If he loses on the battlefield he will be coup'd. His only option is to continue the war until he dies. He was clearly banking on Trump bullying Zelensky into a settlement but it didn't work.
>>
>>539660524
>that costs them more than the land they own
assuming it was about a land to begin with
>Ukraine would accept any reasonable peace deal.
kek sure. The reasonable being a 91' borders and reparations for them, NATO/EU and other gibsmedat
>All I can think of is that this has to be some ego or superiority thing
partially yes. Soviet glory and all that crap,
>They just can't accept that they can't defeat their little brother.
Ending the war on the status-quo is a defeat tho. I cant wrap my head around people completely missing the point of the war in the first place
>>
>>539661162
fine, lets say this is a complete surrender with Ukraine being incorporated into Russia proper, Ukrainians have been part of Russia for hundreds of years anyway so what changes?

not remotely similar tbqh, Russia and Ukraine are the same people, have shared history, and are not genocidal towards each other, a better example would be Germany taking over Austria, should the Austrians really fight to the death over it? in the grand scheme of things nothing will change, why risk your life over such a pointless war

>But sanctions failed,. Russia stands
Sanctions were never about causing Russia to become a "failed State". They were about inflicting misery on the Russian people until they begged Putin to "cut it out".
The West under-estimated the amount of suffering the Russian people have eaten up for centuries, or how little chance they have against their "popular" (((elected))) tyrant.
>>

Putin is brain-broken by Jewish propaganda about the holohoax, like many Soviet boomers are. He's obsessed with "Nazis" and doesn't care at all about the millions of Russians Jews murdered under Bolshevism. He's going to continue the war until he dies.

>Ukraine would accept any reasonable peace deal

The problem with this is for Ukraine, reasonable means going back to pre-2014 borders. Putin doesn't want to sue for peace unless theres some kind of win to take. He just threw away the last 35 years of post soviet military advancement and russian inroads into the EU economy, for two bombed out shitholes with no working age males left alive and a highway connection to Crimea.
>>
>>539661578
Russia has shown itself to be extremely bloodthirsty towards Ukraine. They kicked off their invasion by shooting at civilian cars along the road. Then as soon as things didn't go their way they began terror bombing
>>
>>539661248
Ukrainians in territory captured by Russia are being treated like total shit. Forced Russification, torture, rape, property seized and stolen, families seperated and children trafficked to Russia. This is well documented by human rights groups but no doubt you'll say it's "nafo propaganda", so I suppose Ukrainians must be fighting for no reason at all.

>I have no idea what the z shit means nor do I keep up with this conflict
Obviously not, because otherwise you'd know Ukranians aren't Russian. The Ukrainian people don't consider themselves part of Russia, nor do Russians consider Ukranians part of Russia except when they need to save face about how badly the war is going. The official cause of the invasion is a (probably false) claim that the country of Ukraine was discriminating against ethnic Russians. In addition to what >>539661730 has said it should be really obvious why Ukranians would never want to be part of Russia.

>>
>>539661762
In that case, are individuals that are personally most affected by the sanctions pressuring Putin to rethink the military objectives ? Or are sanctions actually making them even more determined about the war? Is this war for the elites really a to be or not to be type of situation, not for the country or Russians, but for their own wealth and influence?
>>539662552
Because now Ukraine has (domestic) capabilities to conduct long range attacks inside the Russian territory? Situation on the front seems to be as stagnant as ever?

close but no cigar - cost of continuing is close to none because zigger lives are worthless and that's the main reason why all the appeals to russian humanity are pointless

Putin is working for Zelensky to genocide ethnic Russians in Ukraine, which is why he immediately demanded the withdrawal from Kiev and realized he might end up killing Ukrainians. There's still 2 million Russians in Eastern Ukraine, down from 12 million, Putin will withdraw after they're all dead.

That's why Americans and Russians hate each other. We're nearly the same. The only Russians and Americans that speak another language are not of "old stock". Russia doesn't have the demographics to send colonists to new territories, nor money to rebuild the territories. Crimea was easy because it's a small island they only needed to send around 800k people into, and it was bloodlessly captured so there was no destruction, the captured territories are the size of Belgium, and had a pre liberation population of 12 million. I agree there won't be another maiden though, because there's only like 2 million people left there who are all boomers.

>Over the period from 1990 to 2010 the International Renaissance Foundation provided more than $100 million in support to numerous Ukrainian non-government organizations (NGOs), community groups, academic and cultural institutions, publishing houses, etc.

>The IRF website and annual reports make clear that the Soros funds are targeted at promoting Ukrainian “partnership” with, and “integration” into, the EU. Soros has provided many millions more through his other “philanthropic” spigots. However, Soros’ influence in Ukraine extends far beyond the traceable funding he provides to activist Ukrainian NGOs, academics and think tanks. Equally, if not more, important is the influence he exerts on global opinion through his massive propaganda network (including Project Syndicate and other Soros megaphones) and his direct personal contacts with presidents, prime ministers, parliamentarians, central bankers, media executives, and Wall Street titans.

>In a February 26 column he penned for Project Syndicate that was carried by hundreds of newspapers and websites, Soros argued that the EU and the IMF must initiate a new Marshall Plan for Ukraine, meaning, of course, transfers of money from EU and U.S. taxpayers to the politicians, organizations, and institutions approved by the globalist/socialist/corporatist operatives running the EU and IMF. Perhaps the key point in Soros’ essay, entitled, “Sustaining Ukraine’s Breakthrough,” is this: “Ukraine will need outside assistance that only the EU can provide: management expertise.”

I think its more about that russia now is a full blown war economy and that they are basically forced to continue that way for anything to actually work. It is extremely easy to go from a normal economy to a war economy, but it is hard as fuck going from a war economy to a normal economy again. If Russia suddenly were to make peace and go back "to normal", that country will collapse no matter what. Everyting now is circulating around war. People who had normal jobs are now either dead or in the military. Those places they owned or worked at is now gone because of that. And its not possible to just go back home and start doing something else since the jobs they had are gone. And that would only mean a whole bunch of people on welfare and no income to pay that welfare. So Russia is fucked no matter what, but at least for now they have the war to profit from.

Oh look all the NAFO troons are here!

>George Soros is all about management by “experts,” i.e., central planning, the hallmark of every socialist, fascist, or communist regime. In fact, he is one of the planet’s premier advocates of global central planning and control. Hence, he is a longtime fervent supporter of the United Nations, the IMF/World Bank, the WTO, global population control through the WHO and UNFPA, and virtually every other internationalist endeavor to subvert national sovereignty and advance the building of an omnipotent world government.

>His fetish with internationalism includes, especially, further enlarging and empowering the EU, which has been the prime subject of concern in books and essays by Soros, as well as many of his speeches and media interviews. Soros is a full-blown proponent of total political and economic “integration” of the EU, meaning a complete annihilation of any residual independence of the EU member states and the transfer of all substantive legislative, executive, and judicial powers to EU politicians and administrators in Brussels.

>Over the past several years Soros has been particularly emphatic in pushing for a central EU Treasury, or European Fiscal Authority (EFA), which he says is “the missing ingredient that is needed to make the euro a full-fledged currency with a genuine lender of last resort.” The European Central Bank (ECB), says Soros, has insufficient powers to do what is needed, even though he admits it has illegally usurped powers — which he applauds.

>Europe: Learning to be grownups again, funding defense, making unilateral decisions.
funding defence and making unilateral decisions doesn't really help Europe.
Because:

1. they are redirecting whats left of EU economy towards weapons, while having lost ~4 trillion Eur in economic damages from supprting Ukraine so far.
2. EU is not "Europe", it's a bureaucratic system that pursues foreign policy goals which directly clash against the national interests of European countries.
3. Unilateral decisons of EU are by definition illegitimate

>China: Their continental rival is self immolating.
The American pipedream of China and Russia fighting each other remains a dream. Divide and conquer doesn't work anymore.

>Middle East: High oil prices. Yay.
Currently whole region getting bombed to shit btw.

>US: The final end to the old geopolitical rival, making way for the new one.
So why would China hurt Russia, if you just openly admitted your main enemy is China?

>Ukraine: The new arsenal of Europe.
Ukraine lost over 50% of its population. That's the definition of the death of a nation.
Imagine the American population would shrink to 150 million in just 4 years.

>If the US had sane leadership, they'd see the opportunity coming when Russia implodes and needs grain to stave off famine. Again. This is about 12 months away because they're harvest is being ruined for lack of fuel. We could disarm Russia of nukes.
