Alright schizo bros, tell me about this movie. What was the message / predictive programming?

Niggers tongue my anus, but aliens can’t be real. It’s so stupid because there is no physical way for light speed travel and wormholes are not real.

pretty cut and dry

It's nothing, humans have always been fascinated by aliens, more recently the hype was all about to try and give that worthless kike Steven Spielberg a boost to his career before he kills over, that's all "disclosure" was about that we recently saw. Even if it's all real, who cares, if aliens want nothing to do with us in a direct sense that we can understand, then why should we give a damn, they're just too good for (You)
>>
>>539672683
It's just HECKIN' SCIENCE! Slop feat. The Goose. The Martian did alright so they came back to suckle at the teat of mediocrity that is Andy Weir. Neither movie has even an ounce of subtext.

It's propaganda normalizing women having authority over men. A woman is in charge and orders her armed simps to force the main character onto the rocket against his will and sends him out into space against his will, even though she's qualified enough to go herself.

>It’s so stupid because there is no physical way for light speed travel and wormholes are not real.
You don't know anything about space travel. At 1g constant acceleration/deceleration (changing direction halfway to slow down) you would achieve near light speed in about 1 year. It would take roughly 14 years to reach tau ceti from Earth's perspective and 5 years from the crew's perspective due to time dilation. The limitation isn't speed it's delta v. The movie says 2 million kg of the bacteria was required for a return trip to Earth. However even if we assume perfect antimatter efficiency this is still probably off by at least an order of magnitude (and probably more like 2 orders) given the size of the craft. Basically you'd need some comical situation where the craft is 99% fuel/storage and 1% craft for the math to work out. In the real world you could get around this by either pushing the ship with a sol based laser (e.g. starshot breakthrough) for the first half of the trip and then using antimatter (which still requires absurd fuel to craft ratios) for the second half or better yet using a retroreflector so that the sol based laser can be used for both acceleration and deceleration. In the later case the ship would only require a very small amount of fuel for intersystem navigation.
>>
>>539672683
There is a parasitic organism that destroys life by sucking out the light of god, and all alien civilizations are unified in purpose against it.
>>
>>539672883
no, the trip is 11.4 light years and the deadline for earth dying is 30 years, so for the round trip AND time to breed his amoebas AND get them to venus AND have them breed there enough to halt the whole problem means that at the very least he traveled at light speed, the fastest a human will EVER travel under the laws of physics is 8-10% the speed of light with stops along the way to repair genetic damage, this still requires a large water ice shield in front of the craft, so the journey would have been 200-250 years minimum.
>>539672683
That you can just make peace and co-operate with evenly absurdly alien Others, a fallacy.
>>
>>539673256
>they are also equally as smart
rocky didn't know about radiation, but he was also a wakanda tier fabricator so six of one, half a dozen of the other.
>>
>>539673256
>>539673625
>everyone is good even if they're different
This has been the standard moral backdrop for all films since the late 70s. It's the default.

>>539673735
>stronk womyn in command
Slightly more recent, but also one of hollywoods default settings. They don't even have to consciously push this through anymore; all scripts will make females authority figures (unless the authority figure is the antagonist).
>>
>>539673843
sure, but no water-ice shield to protect from genetic degradation, over 10% speed of light even the extremely rare particles in interstellar space are shredding the passengers at a microscopic level, a ship can go that fast, the people inside cannot.
>>
>>539674111
>the fastest a human will EVER travel under the laws of physics is 8-10% the speed of light with stops along the way to repair genetic damage
What are you even talking about. This is pure nonsense. A human can be accelerated to 99.99999...% etc the speed of light.
>>
I liked the rock and thought they were very cute
>>
>>539674253
okay, with the proviso "and survive"
You might be able to dot hat with a lead or ice shield that is ... 8 or 11 AU's thick? can't recall which, but uhh... try propelling that, the fuel requirements get a little... extreme, and you'd be in a ship millions of times larger than the sun.

None. It's an adaptation of a book written for 100-140 iq types with no technical experience. It scratches a itch in their brain for higher order problem solving. Read his other book the Martin. Its all situational awareness, extra sensory perception and engineering to overcome existential challenges. His new book was the same.
>aliens are sentient rocks?
>sun sippers are real?
>an ice age is coming sooner than expected
These are literally (honest to God no pun intended) plot devices you fucking faggot.

I also find it deeply ironic that we are always soooo concerned with external existential threats like le aliens when we have effectively destroyed our ecosystem and are in a nuclear mexican standoff all our own doing. (Well the jews but our inaction towards their meddling is blantant neglagence)
>>
>>539674229
>This has been the standard moral backdrop for all films since the late 70s. It's the default.
Yup. All popular film and writing must contain this theme if it’s going to get picked up by big production houses. They especially love the “obvious bad guy turns out to actually be good” trope because it’s even more overt pro-black/migrant propaganda. I’m working on a YA novel series that I want to sell and am inserting this as a key theme.
>>
At least it didn't have no troon shit, although it did borderline girlboss.
>>
>>539674339
That's an engineering problem not a hard constraint and you already provided a solution, just use water. I have no idea where you are getting 8-11 AUs of shielding from, you would only need a few meters of thickness per year of near luminal speed travel. There are also superior alternatives to water like liquid hydrogen.
>>
>>539672683
>>aliens are sentient rocks?
They could be, who knows? The universe contains trillions upon trillions of planets....if you believe what the (((scientists))) say

The ecosystem of the planet is far from being destroyed you alarmist faggot, even a plague wasteland like india could be fixed by just removing all of the indians from there and waiting few decades.
Also, nobody but schizos are concerned with existential threats like aliens, meteors or the sun randomly farting on us.
>>
>>539674692
No, this is well established, otherwise we would be theoretically capable of interstellar travel now.
Generation ships are still the best option for reaching even alpha centauri, as there is no realistic method of stasis yet.
And all this is under the assumption that our ideas of interstellar space are true, IRC voyager hasn't reached that yet, last big deal with that probe was "we thought it was going to reach interstellar space but we just found a new layer to the edge of sol system"

>we're inside cyropod on a spaceship
This sounds the closest. The theme seems very recurring as well. Matrix, Prometheus, Silo..
At first it might seem like logical technology, but for something we haven't demonstrated even in loosely approximate experiments fiction could choose 1000 different ideas that rarely get used - entangled quantum comms, generation ships, local colonization etc.

OTOH i wouldn't bet on it being straightforward equivalent. For predictive programming it's likely to normalize the idea of agreeing getting into any such pods or something similar. Wouldn't be surprised that at one point "temporary sleep" is mandated as solution to global problems or just mundane issues - like just sleep until AI builds future you've dreamed of etc.
>>
>>539675283
Passengers is a better movie, it still has the stasis issue, but that's it, handles speed of travel and reality of communications and gravity nicely, also white guy gets the blonde girl and nigger dies.
>>
>>539672683
Just a feel good movie that looked good.
Most everyone has already forgotten about it.
>>
>>539675100
I see you're assuming you're going to encounter objects larger than a proton in which case yes hitting something the size of a pebble would be like detonating a nuclear bomb. However the laser propulsion system I mentioned already solves this problem as it would easily vaporize anything in front of the ship before the ship reaches it. As long as the ship is sufficiently smaller than the diameter of the beam it acts as a protective cylinder so that even things entering from awkward angles that avoid initial vaporization should not be able to hit the ship. The ship itself avoids vaporization by being coated in a material with near perfect reflectance. We have no such material today but photonic crystals are close. You could also just mount the shield hundreds of kilometers in front of the ship so that the blasts are far away from the main body.

1. Expand peoples minds on what life can be. Not just humans. Plasmoids, planets, stones, electric beings. Life has a much wider definition than meat ape.

2. What?

3. Micronova and magnetic pole flip in 2046 causes global flooding and ice age. 13,000 and 6,000 year cycles. Thats why recorded history stops there. It all gets destroyed by catastrophe.
>>
>>539672683
It's a fun film I would class as science fantasy not science fiction. The Martian would be more in the Science Fiction genre. He basically invents something like "super cross-sectionality" to say that this little critters that eat the sun absorb all photons and nothing can get through even through tunneling. They are carbon based and use water as a medium but it doesn't boil away even in the million degree temperature of the suns corona because of super cross-sectionality. Total bullshit but it makes for a fun story. I won't even get into the way he survived in the end by eating some alien amoeba for several years.

Ryan gosling is a goofy doofus and the only calm dauntless and reasonable character, and she orders him to be kidnapped and forced onto a spaceship against his will but eventually he likes being in space and he forgives her so it's ok that she did that.
Other than that the rock monsters are like spiders, which symbolically must mean something and the movie is called hail mary and it carries a heavy message of self sacrifice, catholic + female centric.

the movie is a shot across the commie bow. contrast with "annihilation," and note the presence of the achetypal heroes journey in one and not the other. In the latter, some dumb broad voluntarily goes into a shiny alien rainbow bubble, learns that its too hard to fight aliens, and gives up. world ends, faith in humanity crushed. in the former, gosling is called to face insurmountable odds, chickens out, gets pushed over the edge into the abyss anyways, and comes out on top, saving not just earth, but some sorry shit rock earth too. w humanity.

When the spinning ball-Earth is finally exposed worldwide for the 400+ year deception it was, Earth's entire population will suddenly be faced with the reality that every government, every space agency, university, secret society, religious organization, mainstream and alternative media outlet have ALL been duplicitous in propping up a monstrous manipulation to fleece and control the masses. The resulting mass mental exodus away from the control system is exactly what humanity needs. Once the flat Earth truth gets out, these lying politicians, spokesmen, reporters and teachers suddenly change from being heralded voices of authority to being ridiculed, shunned and denounced as they deserve. Once the flat Earth truth gets out, these governments, universities, media outlets and other entangled organizations which have long been hard at work weaving this multi-generational ball-Earth myth, suddenly and completely lose all credibility. Once the truth of our flat Earth gets out, so does the truth of these few elite families/societies who have kept this most important and fundamental reality from us for these hundreds of years! Essentially, once the flat Earth truth gets out, so does every other important truth by proxy, because this "mother-of-all-conspiracies" holds under its umbrella literally ALL of the other conspiracies, and exposes them.

Basically Earth's sun gets Space AIDS and is being blotted out. Science tards go 'WTF' and NASA sends bois to get a sample of what is going on around sun. Ryan brought in to look at the space AIDS and discovers it's a little space alien plankton that eats light and poops to scoot, and its spread to Earth's sun. Bad news is that means no light and Earth freezes. This begets Project: Hail Mary - send some crew on a 1 way trip to a star some 11 light years away or some shit because it does not have space AIDS. Goal: see why star does not have space AIDS and send solution back via radio and little small satellite travelers. Meanwhile, Earthlings turtle up and try to survive winter apocalypse while waiting for solution.

Day to launch comes and some plot shit happens and Ryan now is needed for suicide mission. So they drug his ass and shove him in a coma and plant him in the suicide ship. He wakes up, freaks out, find ship is unpopulated because suicide of OG crew. Gets cleaned up, then runs into alien ship. Some comedy of errors occur, and now two ships are connected and we get to see little rock alien dude. Rock alien dude is also only survivor because radiation killed his entire crew and he survived due to space AIDS they use as fuel shielding him. Ryan then uses AI computer to translate language and help do science shit. Together they sort out what the space AIDS solution is. Then they go fetch some of the solution using a scoop, more bonding happens, and yay! everyone's planet saved. Ryan poops out the satellites with the solution, radios back home, and alien gives him a gift of fuel to get back. But oh no, plot happens and little alien buddy in danger, so Ryan goes "fuck earth" and goes to save his little buddy, then goes to chill on their planet.

Movie ends with Ryan teaching class to little rock aliens and rock buddy saying science/engineer rocks fixed his ship up and he can go home, but Ryan is like "nah bro, fuck em".

You are so wrong. Give it 15 years tops, your tune will change long before then though.
>>

Nah, just an ok movie. You're looking for meaning in your pathetic, little life again.

You exist to suffer. What moments of joy you have are only there to remind you how good you could feel.

Quit forgetting.

amaze amaze amaze!

I fell asleep halfway through and never bothered watching the rest
>>
>>539679017
I said the pacing you fucking retard, the plot is 'marginally' different, but every other aspect of the movie is the fucking same.
Tell us how they're completely different movies though, because you're too fucking stupid to understand you're watching the same movie based on different books.
You have to be over 18 to post here, child.
>>
>>539672683
psyche 16 rendezvous. not sure if they make it though.

My jeet in christ the world is dying crowd is telling the same shit for a CENTURY

>Your home planet and species drugs you and sends you on a one-way trip to save said planet and species.
>You still save them.
>Your new planet and frens hooked you up with beachfront property, a classroom of appreciative students and doesn't charge you a cent for rent, replicated food, or threats of drugging and one way death trips.
>>
>>539672683
The world hasn’t forgotten how you chuddies tried to make Sound of Freedom some groundbreaking movie that the elites were preventing from being seen.
>>
>>539683934
Zeitgeist was another one of your go-to films. You have the worst taste in movies chuddies and everyone is laughing at you. Surprised there isn’t an anti-vax movie for you people.

I watched it and have the answer.

It is proof of silicon lifeforms.
Vaxoids will become silicon and carbon based by 2033.
Check them digits

Pure bullshit. Rock alien chirps like a bird until they can talk English, OK, I get that maybe "yes", "no", "I'm hungry" are going to be learned, but "I can make a chain."
> Chain

Where the fuck did Mr. Rock alien learn the word "chain"? Nope, sorry, bullshit, not that microbes could survive on the surface of a star, but there you go.

Whats a good movie?
>>

Same author as The Martian
Andy (((Weir
>>
>>539686650
I know.
Ridley Scott did a much better job.
The directors of this one made it very predictable.
No matter what the source material is.
>>
>>539686615
Eddington unironically
>>
>>539673612
The movie is dogshit
Its just an endless series of cliches that often have no continuity.
Honestly one of the worst films i've ever seen
>>
>>539686615
Man bites dog.
Watership Down.
The Thin Red Line.
Akira.
The Martian.
The Thing.
there's a lot of good movies.
This wasn't one of them.
It just seems better than it is because the fucking bar is so low right now.
>>
>>539672683
its a positive movie without sex scenes, blood and gore, and not too much swearing

it was pretty good and the book is pretty good too
>>
>>539686895
I liked it, but then I don't watch modern movies all that often. When The Martian came out anons were rabid to call it plebbit. I liked that one too, and Passengers.
Don't let other people determine what you like, if you do you give up individuality, and without that what even are you
>>
>>539672683
The message is that kikes are subhuman parasites who need to be exterminated from the earth.
>>
>>539686895
>Watership Down
This was great but got a bit silly when the talking seagull arrived. Still good though
>>
>>539686993
>Don't let other people determine what you like
Yeah.
Watch the movies.
But if you like this one other than because it's a shallow reflection of the Martian, you're too fucking stupid to talk about movies or anything else related to art.
Just take your boosters and move along.
>>
>>539687099
Try plague dogs.
That one's real chipper.
>>
>>539687119
>yeah if you like <thing> then ur ghey
Okay, not like I pay to watch shit.
