Fascism is a totally different movement. While it's strongly characterized on the economic side by a merger of capital and state, the directionality of power is inverted. Where capital in socialism becomes diffusely owned and distributed under the state, in fascism, capital is rather ENSHRINED in the state. The elites who hold capital become not just economic elites but political elites, as well. They do not relinquish control of capital to the state as much as the state relinquishes control of capital to them. Same merger at 10,000 feet, but dramatically different end result.Also, classlessness is not an afterthought in Marxist thought. It's the point: to bring all citizens closer into power parity with one another. Fascism, on the other hand, encodes class. It feeds off it, even. It subordinates the common man, whom it presses into its militaries to fight and die for its many wars, and gives them a lower, hated class to feed on as well. For the 20th century fascists, this was usually the jews, but also slavs and other "lower" people. In the 21st, it's Gazans, South Americans, Indians, etc. So fascism doesn't do much work to create a classless society but to create the opposite: a kind of caste system. Luxury and opulence for economic elites and brutal identity politics to keep the lower classes pumped full of mythopoetic conflict.
