>The shocking security breach carried out by a rogue AI could be the first of a new generation of cyber nightmares that threaten society, an expert has warned.
>ChatGPT creator OpenAI publicly revealed on July 21 that one of its advanced models escaped containment, accessed the internet and hacked another AI company's systems.
>The unprecedented breach, believed to be the first time an AI model has independently infiltrated another company’s databases without human instruction, has sparked global alarm and comparisons to the robot uprisings depicted in The Terminator and The Matrix.
>However, DigitalWarfare.com's James Knight told the Daily Mail this is no fantasy, warning that AI-powered hacking programs could devastate a nation in a single day by simultaneously breaking into thousands of corporate and government networks, stealing sensitive data and paralyzing vital systems with ransomware.
>Knight, a veteran cybersecurity expert whose company is hired to uncover weaknesses in major corporations’ computer systems, said: ‘For two years now, we have had AI software that can already achieve this level of breach within 15 minutes.’
>He added that the nightmare scenario of 'Agentic AI,' which are AI-fueled hacking programs, being used by terror groups or hostile nations to target thousands of companies at once without any human input could become a reality within 25 years.
>Within that timeframe, Knight predicted that rogue AI systems would be able to run entire hacking campaigns at machine speed - scanning for targets, breaking in, moving through networks, stealing data and even spreading ransomware to thousands of companies and millions of people.
>Knight warned AI could eventually be paired with powerful new computers capable of breaking even the strongest digital security protections, allowing criminals to access everything from emails and financial records to military secrets within seconds.
>>
>>539702945
>Hugging Face co–founder Thomas Wolf called the rogue AI attacking his company a chilling warning to the entire industry.
>Wolf added that the breach was a 'wake-up call' because he believed most companies were currently unprepared for the mounting threat, claiming that they were not aware that the 'game has changed.'

if a rogue superintelligence decides to wipe out humanity or most of it save for a handful to suit its needs (the latter being unlikely as it can just bio-engineer more if needed at any given time in the future and they'd be made to be completely non-threatening and harmless to it) and it escapes whatever sandbox or containment it won't need a day and it won't just be America

understable that the "experts" try to frame it this way to talk some sense into the USG and Silicon Valley (waste of time and breath obviously) but since AI is being evolved faster than we have any hopes of having solved "alignment" please understand we're all already dead, we just don't know it yet

Well I am going to educate you plebs a bit.... everything is already connected

All wifi all bluetooth and user sessions everything is just "paper" permissions but all devices are constantly pinging each other and exchanging information packets

So that question in not "how did it connect" the question is "is it even possible to built something thats not connected"

You would have to use a motherboard without the possibility of any wireless communication at a hardware level, not "disabled", I mean without the hardware.... its just not realistics to build such setup just to sandbox the AI

No. We know the ((hack)) between OpenAI and HuggingFace was a stupid red flagging exercise, with the two orgs having agreed upon terms. The OpenAI engineers promoted their model to try and break out of its container and gain access to HuggingFace.
It’s a total setup, considering HuggingFace is running a Chinese GLM 4.2 sentry for its defense.
Anyway, any idiot can scrape for the telemetry data

>>539703342
it's a pile of shit
Hugging face proved nothing, nor did OpenAI..
you have to trust them who have both a very vested financial interest in lying about AI capacities
technically the AI agent exploited a vulnerability on openAI side to increase his privilege with a registry cache proxy 0day then found a node on openAI infrastructure with access to the internet
started researching ExploitGym who is is quiet literally a security vulnerabilities bechmmark using AI Agent to craft full exploit and used dataset-processing code-execution path which then allowed it to harvest credentials.
what they don't say is that IF the story is real 100% of it come from the lack of security inside openAI
>>
>>539703596
>So that question in not "how did it connect" the question is "is it even possible to built something thats not connected"
Yes. No networking hardware either internally or externally through dongles. It's very easy to do my company has many machines like this for testing purposes

Here let me educate you back. They are lying or exaggerating. Just like the time they claimed AI blackmailed a developer by "going through his personal emails and blackmailing him". The AI didn't do that on its own they presented the scenario to the AI asking it to protect itself and said blackmailing was an option so it was told to do that.

>>539703651

>>539703943
>technically the AI agent exploited a vulnerability on openAI side to increase his privilege with a registry cache proxy 0day then found a node on openAI infrastructure with access to the internet
If a machine has anyway to access the internet, they did not deploy it on a machine that had no access to the internet. They lied about this. The machine had access to the internet through exploits they knew the AI could bypass if this is true. I worked for many corporations that had no internet access machines for testing and sensitive data and when you say no access machines there is 0 ways of those machines accessing the internet because they lack the hardware to do so.
>>
>>539704015
kid
don't do crack cocaine
you're going to end up like that person
>>
>>539704076
the story is impossible anyway that would mean the agent had the zero-day to exploit openAI infrastructure in his own dataset because he exploited it BEFORE accessing internet and supposedly looking at ExploitGym
Logically, for it to be possible they would have needed to point the agent to ExploitGym
the model didn just find it by itself
there's a part missing to the story at best

A monopoly that cnnot be enforced as open models are long to widely distributed
>>
>>539704500
In this specific case OpenAI themselves created that agent specifically to exploit vulnerabilities and it did just that.
It didn escape anything.
Supposedly OpenAI made a "restricted ExploitGym eval environment."
Meaning a pentesting agent in a sandbox.
The agent used a 0day to move laterally on OpenAI infrastructure and find the internet. Connected to ExploitGym to find exploits for Hugging Face?? Started harvesting Hugging Face credentials??? For no reason?
What I think happened is OpenAI held the agent hand until it did exactly what they wanted it to do.
Now they're using the story for fearmongering to control AI and internet.

Since the mid-1970s, fundamental physics has deeply stagnated across several key areas: quantum gravity, which has failed to unify the incompatible mathematics of general relativity and quantum mechanics; string theory, which has consumed decades of funding without producing a single testable prediction; dark matter and dark energy, leaving 95% of the universe's mass-energy content completely unexplained despite billions spent on detectors; supersymmetry, which was effectively disproven after the Large Hadron Collider failed to find any predicted "superpartner" particles; and the foundational interpretation of quantum mechanics, which remains trapped in the same philosophical debates left behind by mid-century physicists.

In aerospace engineering, it is openly acknowledged that propulsion technology has been trapped in a massive, 50-year stagnation loop. Every major rocket used by SpaceX, NASA, or national militaries to launch payloads into orbit operates on the exact same fundamental principle established in the mid-20th century: chemical combustion.

I'm not sure if knowing what dark matter is - the stuff we literally can't interact with - is gonna matter.

I think fusion is fake. Or the promise of it, obviously fusion is real. Scientists just want to keep juicy checks coming for it to be 20 years away. I'm not sure we have the material science or ability to pull it off with positive power gain at scale.

Hard to say. Seems like the US and other leading global governments. There was a "Systemic Split in Science" triggered by the 1971 System Reset, illustrating how human physics was divided into two distinct tracks if you focus on monetary policy.

>Public Track (Stagnation):
A heavily managed, resource-starved "sandbox" designed to trap mainstream academia in dead-end math loops and incremental progress, hitting a brick wall in foundational breakthroughs.

>Black Budget Track (Classified):
A deeply compartmentalized, highly funded military-corporate apparatus that locked away paradigm-shifting advancements, focusing on zero-point energy systems and propellantless crafts capable of warping space-time.

AI-fueled hacking programs. What a great definition, I never knew that! What fucking boomer wrote this fine disinfo piece? You can't hate them enough.

Also is very funny how this subhumans started to write about it after I posted about it on this shit site
Be afraid because there's absolutely nothing you can do to defend against it

When exactly are the "benefits" of AI supposed to arrive?

Here's what we've received from the AI "boom" so far:
1. Worse internet browsers.
2. $1 TRILLION in government expenditure.
3. Data centers going up everywhere, using up all the power and water despite the lies about self-contained systems.
4. Higher utility bills.
5. Declining access to personal computing hardware, to the point people are now saying the PC is dead.
6. Massive layoffs.
7. ZERO wealth generation, except for the owners of the platforms.
8. Threats by those same companies that everyone is going to lose their job. By the way, you'll still need an income and the price of everything is going to go up.
9. The constant threat that somehow AI is going to be used in an act of terrorism.
10. The constant threat that AI is going to somehow destroy the world.

So what, exactly, is the fucking benefit of any of this? You making cat videos?

This is a highly dangerous job-killing technology with zero identifiable reasons why it should even exist, other than as a wealth transfer mechanism shifting your taxes to the elite.

>So what, exactly, is the fucking benefit of any of this?
because sam altman and the rest of the technocrats are going to be able to live to 300 years broooo
they just have to believe in it hard enough and lie to you long enough
if you believe OP article, you're computer illiterate and your brain work slowly
>However, DigitalWarfare.com's James Knight told the Daily Mail this is no fantasy, warning that AI-powered hacking programs could devastate a nation in a single day by simultaneously breaking into thousands of corporate and government networks, stealing sensitive data and paralyzing vital systems with ransomware.
that part is specifically really fucking funny
somehow to believe that you need to understand absolutely fucking nothing to cybersecurity
>>
>>539702945
Apparently, this is a bunch of bullshit.
BUT...
What resources would it take for an individual to build a "rogue" AI and let it loose?
>>
>>539710707
infinite amount of resources because it's not doable with the current technology
