In a past life I was a progressive liberal. I was on 'the front lines' of the LGBT scene for ~10+ yrs and trans people were rarely, if ever, seen. I went to 2 or 3 gay pride parades (Houston), gay bars all the time, and lived in the gay part of town for 5+ years. There was only 1 trans person I saw on the regular and they were an employee at my local grocery store. Sometimes at the LGBT bars I'd see this one dude obviously cross dressing with full facial hair. But that's it.I've been to LGBT bars and events hundreds of times. Basically zero trans 99% of the time before 2015. Houston and Austin.No one talks about how rare trans was in the LGBT community before 2015.People talk about how rare it was in NORMIE world.

I can't imagine the number of trannies at my high school now. I was looking at recent videos of my high school and the amount of black and browns in the video was astonishing. Last time I was in high school it had to be at least 85% white, very few black and brown people.

unlike a lot of 4chan I was not far right during the Obama years. Dubya turned me off to the (R) super hard core. I've had LGBT friends since the early 2000s. I was going to gay bars before it was cool to have gay friends.

Trans are still incredibly rare to the point it's ridiculous to have state and national policy around them. The only reason one might see a few more in the lgbt community is the huge social acceptance gains gays have made. Making it slightly easier for trans to be out but tranny life still has to completely suck.
