This has been the norm since 2001 when the Patriot Act was passed. Half the US lives in a constitution-free zone where rights are suspended due to being within 100 miles of a border or a navigable waterway. American courts have upheld it and appeals have been rejected by the SCOTUS many times. Land of the free!

Yes. A retarded leftie white one too by the looks of it. He was not under arrest and could not be compelled/forced to unlock his phone on paper but of course they'll just try to wear you down. He "gave in" and handed them the duress password which wiped the phone when entered.
Duress passwords are incredibly stupid for this sort of thing, because it's textbook destruction of evidence and has been for centuries. You'll never be able to convince a judge that you weren't aware that you were under investigation as you're sat in a little white room being interviewed by terrorism-police, or that your phone that you essentially wiped remotely through deception wasn't full of evidence against you.
Feds can go fuck themselves but you have to be a special kind of moron to just fucking hand them their case like this.

Depends. There are sophisticated software going back to 2007 Vera crypt, ask grok about it.
Veracrypt in 2007 would delete everything and immediately make unrecoverable because it rewrites everything with random data

When they recover it's because deletion does something called UNLINKING meaning that the data still there and it's un-linked meaning you cannot access anymore and it's now available space for other data to take that space
When other data has taken the space it is recoverable
But veracrypt? Back to 2007? The criminals already made it impossible to recover. Now in 2026 it must be way more epic
Ask grok about it

>>
>>539713432
Unless they had a warrent for the phone and any evidence on it they won't do shit. If you try to violate my right to privacy dont be surprised if I have a counter measure in place
>>
>>539714647
You don't a warrant or any legal grounds to perform a search at the border.
>>
>>539714314
Here's the thing: he wasn't in police custody. He was at the airport, in customs, and had not being charged with a crime or read miranda rights. He requested a lawyer, and was told that he wasn't legally entitled to one because this was not a police interrogation so those rules didn't apply, he was being 'delayed' not 'detained'.
Under these circumstances its questionable whether the CBP guys even had the right to demand the phone unlock in the first place since they had already shot themselves in the foot by throwing away their legal authority to compel him with their excuse for why he didn't deserve a lawyer. They essentially admitted that they had no intention of charging him with a crime, they just wanted to seize his data anyway which isn't within their permit.
>>
>>539714677
I'm sure they could recover the data if they really wanted to but zog would only ever be willing to do that much work for something related to the security of Israel

the police would have you believe all data is recoverable no matter what but that is not true, its only recoverable as long as nothing has overwritten it yet. when you click delete its gone from view but its still there untill more data overwrites it. you can overwrite it by copying large junk files or apps that will zero it out.
>>
>>539713432

Graphene OS only 100% works with Google Pixel, its strange that a jewish phone that you would think is backdoored doesn't have much security features built in the hardware or chip, therefore you control everything.

This is why the devs warn you it doesn't work with Samsung because knox security controls everything and by disabling you break the security features and they can get in the phone through the built in exploits.

For flash memory you're right, but you rarely control where writing occurs anymore. Flash wears so to prevent premature death writes are internally load balanced across blocks of cells. Erasing them completely programmatically can be somewhere between difficult and impossible.

For hard drives (before they all caught the shingles) you could abuse the fact that the head would rarely be placed exactly the same place for every write, and that the displacement was fairly uniform along a write cycle, so you could read ever so slightly next to the data track on the platter to recover overwritten data. In a controlled environment data has been recovered as far as 7 writes back. It could conceivably still be done on CMT server quality drives but it seems doubtful with the sheer fucking density of data on them now. Maybe 1-2 generations back at best.

This is such a weird case. My understanding is that he didn't even do it. They demanded a code to unlock it, so he gave them a code, and they unlocked it.
Very unfortunate that they deleted all of the evidence by unlocking the phone, but he didn't input the code.

He will probably win at trial, if he actually takes it to trial. But what will probably happen is he takes a plea deal to set precedent. Or he doesn't budge, and when it looks like they'll lose, they will drop the case to avoid setting a precedent against their schizo authoritarian bullshit.

>>
>>539715296
no graphene os does a "cryptographic wipe" when you use the duress password, the only thing a data forensicist can determine afterwards is that a duress wipe took place
the phone will wipe itself and shutdown, afterwards appear like its "bricked" and require a complete reboot from recovery
>>
>>539715715
You kind of do, because there are more blocks of memory in there than they're telling you about (unless of course it's an SD card or similar manufactured e-waste). And if that isn't bad enough, they don't wipe cells when they get retired, so they remain readable as long as the cells hold their charge. So there might be a few frames of your favorite CP video in permanently readable memory in there. You don't even need particularly special forensic tools to recover this stuff. The hardware is within reach of any old board level repair shop and the software is within your reach if you have access to ye olde google.

He kinda did. GrapheneOS has a "duress password" which appears to login to the phone while wiping it in the background. This is a different password than the normal one and you would only use it to fuck with jackboots.
The legal equivalent would be having a lockbox at home that contains an incendiary device and two passwords. If you were subject to a search warrant and you gave the password that activated the incendiary advice, that is 100% destruction of evidence.
There might be some wiggle room as there almost certainly wasn't a court order involved here, but if they can establish customs had a right to search the phone then he's fucked.

>its strange that a jewish phone that you would think is backdoored doesn't have much security features built in the hardware or chip, therefore you control everything
The Pixel being 100% "open" is the only way Google is able to draw prosumers away from Apple, which they've been trying to do ever since Jobs-less Macbooks/iPhones continued to get worse and remove features. Devs for OS's and ROM's are also basically doing it for free in terms of finding interesting shit to do with their phone, and Google is absolutely watching and taking notes/copypasting

I say "open" because while Google lets you do whatever with the Pixel, apps don't like this, and Snapchat especially goes out of it's way to fuck with Android because they've been seething ever since the Casper app - the source of women turning into retards over
>greentexting
and has a hair trigger on what it considers to be an insecure rapist hackers phone. Even before I took the Graphenepill, most apps absolutely hated Rooted/Magisk Pixels, and you were at the mercy of how fast attestation fixes could keep-up with failing Safetynet checks. This basically means banking apps/food apps/popular social apps/[app with credit card option here] will either stop working/disable your account for suspicious activity if Safetynet fails, and unlocking the bootloader is enough to trigger this even without a root. Publically, it's a feature both for boomers that fell for Indian phone takeover scams, and behind the scenes, it was Google getting apps/ethots off their backs

The one thing I wish Graphene had was something akin to Magisk and Adaway (root shit), because there's a bunch of modules that do stuff Graphene can't just yet, but the devs agree that a completely rooted Graphene would probably be an exploit nightmare

For that still unaware, never talk to police without a lawyer present. Ever! It can literally only hurt you and you cannot be compelled to hand anything over without consulting a lawyer, but if you do and tamper with it that is destruction of evidence, even if there was nothing on the phone on the first place (evidence of nothing is still evidence). Why are you required to provide the police your password? Why aren't you allowed to do what you want with your own data? If they did conduct surveillance on the phone, did the police have a warrant or legal right to conduct such surveillance? Many questions here.

Just FYI Sukhdeep, in the UK you have no right to remain silent. If you refuse to answer their questions you go to jail. If you refuse to hand over encryption keys you go to jail. No warrant is even necessary. A random-ass government employee asks you for your password and you either hand it over immediately or you go to jail. Doesn't even have to be anything meaningful. Stephen-Alan Nicholson got in shit with the police for not handing over his Faceboomer password... in 2018. They could have literally just compelled Faceberg to give them access but no, straight to jail.

The Feds have been pushing a lot of tools down to the local PD level that allow them access to your digital devices. In theory, the local PDs need to follow privacy rules and laws. Riley v. California (2014) – A unanimous ruling that police generally need a warrant to search the digital contents of a cell phone seized during an arrest.

Carpenter v. United States (2018) – A 5-4 ruling that police need a warrant to access a person's historical cell-site location information (CSLI) from their wireless carrier.

Chatrie v. United States (2026) – Ruled that obtaining a "geofence warrant" is a search under the Fourth Amendment, requiring privacy protections

Truth is the SCOTUS has been slowly ruling in a pattern that is making cellphones as protected by the 4th as homes are. For over a decade they've consistently ruled in this manner.
This already violates Riley v California at face value.

Yes, wipe is stupid. "frisk account" is much better - give officer a special pin and the phone appears to unlock into a neat, clean userspace with believable and completely harmless normie chats, photos and browser history.
>>
>>539721632
I like it conceptually, but basically, Google is the U.S. government. They wouldn't allow a Pixel to be sold without some kind of firmware exploit existing in the phone. It's still beneficial to prevent officer dickhead from thumbing through your meme folder because he's bored. Thanks for the info though.

>Did you miss the part where I said it was bullshit?
No I was adding on to your point., I wasnt disagreeing with you.

holy shit the amount of bootlicking ITT
>>
How do they know there was evidence if they never saw it
>>
>>539722246
So the guy who got charged was protesting the building of a police training/survelliance headquarters in gaylanta, which is the most egregious thing to glowniggers. He should've thought twice before posting all over social media and booking a flight to central america.
>>
>He destroyed evidence of a crime he didnt commit
Are you retarded? This is an obvious case of cop powertripping and you are bootlickers
>>
>>539714055
i forgive him for killdozering them all in the end then
>>
>>539713432
Hold on.

Don't iphones also have a duress wipe feature? And don't androids have one too?

Would he not be charged the exact same thing if he did the exact same thing but on a different mobile OS?

I don't believe it, all i'm saying is that rules of the jungle is you get shot for disobeying
>>
>>539713631
Doesn't there need to be a reasonable suspicion of a crime? A search warrant?
>>
>>539718407
It was his phone, he was not under investigation, and he wanted to wipe it, what's the problem? He can do whatever he wants with his private property.
>>
>>539714055
Cope, activist groups will fund it, and get court precedent set that makes the panopticon bureaucracy even more impotent, glowies seething
>>
>>539713432
Was he tracked down for being part of some political movement and for using his phone to commit crimes or store data of the crimes? Or do they just harass random people?
>>
>>539714088
If you find fuckloads of gold, first thing you do is NOT TELL THE FUKKEN FEDS
>>
The case involves Atlanta resident Sam Tunick, who was stopped by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in January 2024 after returning from the Dominican Republic. According to court filings, Tunick had been placed on a terrorism watchlist because of his alleged association with protests against Atlanta's $109 million police training center, commonly known as Cop City.

The Stop Cop City movement was broad. It included:

peaceful environmental protesters,
local residents,
activists,
civil disobedience,
and, according to prosecutors, some individuals who committed crimes such as arson, vandalism and attacks on construction equipment and police property.

You're classed a domestic terrorist if you tick any of those boxes lmao fucking hell..... its just as bad as the UK. The jews got us so hard

It sounds like erasing the phone was absolutely the right decision and a great feature. He'll probably be acquitted or do a deal, serve a very short sentence at worst. But why reach this point anyway. Protested against a police training centre, defined a terrorist. Wew

I was considering getting one of those pixel phones to put grapheneos on. I'm still using my s10 with lineageos
>>
>>539713631
It's not shredding evidence if your phone wipes every single time you unlock it... You just don't trust glowies that upload shit to your phone and want to only use it for calls/internet/alarms...
>>
>>539713544
Yes
>>
So carrying a phone which might not have enough data on you and all your socials is now "destroying evidence".

Btw people should just stop flying or trying to fly to other countries, it's getting fucking dangerous for any normal person. I know it will not stop at airports, but shit like flying to UK or USA is starting to be fucking dangerous. Waiting for (more) official cases where they just bag civilians or even small time politicians for fun and hold them hostage.

What was he hiding?
>>
>>539713432
If the zogbots put CP on his phone, then it doesn't matter even if they convict him of destroying evidence because he did the right move. Better to be convicted of destroying evidence than be accused of having CP. People turn their brains off when they hear CP.

They gave Hunter Biden a plea deal because he has good lawyers and could argue that the Feds can't regulate guns or weed under the 2nd and 10th Amendment and they didn't want it going to the courts where he could win.
>>
>>539715894
Phones have been encrypted by default for like a decade now
>>
>>539713432
This is why you leave a note with
>pin: 7826
inside your phone case or wallet or some other dumb spot so the cops enter your duress pin themselves. Can't convict you for destroying evidence if they destroyed it themselves
>>
Also they're worried about Federal weed laws being invalidated, because they notionally work on the idea that the Feds could prosecute interstate transport of weed. The problem is that it isn't the 70s anymore, a number of states have legal weed and the commerce clause only could be invoked if all 50 states have agreed to ban something. Therefore once weed becomes legal in one or more states, the Feds cannot prosecute interstate transport of it. So they gave HB a plea deal lest he take it to court and they overturn Federal weed laws.

If he did, he would have it in his Google Drive because everything or "almost" everything you have on your Pixel is on your Google account.

Feds are known to fabricate evidence.

Can't you make partitions in Graphene and log in with different PINs? They don't just look at your phone in person. They copy the drive. It seems the best thing to do is make a partition with very little on it and log in to that.
