How is a filibuster a weapon ? I really don't understand how the ability to not stop talking for hours an act of defiance. Can you get away with this in court ? Like what if instead of my lawyer I decide to have a closing statement that never ends ? Wouldn't they have to eventually dismiss the case because it's taking up too much court time from other cases ?

They just say they're filibustering and then it effectively means it takes a 60/100 majority to pass now instead of 51. It has nothing to with courts of the constitution, it's just a rule the senate set voluntarily set up for themselves they could end at any time with a simple majority but neither side is interested in doing that. It's good for Democrats because Dems are sort of inherently disadvantaged in the senate because every flyover state with 1000 jughooting yokels who vote Republican in it gets equal representation of two senators per state, so it's in their interest to keep a minoritarian veto around. The Republican political project also generally benefits from obstructionism in congress and they also have the supreme court captured and are betting hard on "unitary executive theory" to empower the presidency anyway, so a useless deadlocked congress doesn't mean much to them and they might as well keep it that way.
