DSA is just a label for the generational fight that always happens in a group when the old guard loses their ability to retain control and the young turks start trying to take over. DSA policies are brown third world policies, most of which the old guard has given lip service for decades, saying they're desirable goals while not really working towards them. The young browns are tired of hearing promises that the old guard forgets the second the election ends. In a way, it's like Donald Trump in 2016, gaining control over the GOP because that party's voters were tired of an endless string of Jeb Bush types making generic conservative promises and then doing nothing about them once in power. And like Trump, who eventually morphed into that which he replaced, DSA likely would be quite similar to the current old guard, just with youngish brown in charge instead of alcoholic wine aunts. It's not policy that has the Democrats in a panic over DSA, it's the old guard panicked that their grasp on power is quickly diminishing.
