He has ties to many powerful people, is himself very wealthy and powerful, and expresses ideas that are inherently at odds with the common person living a good free life.I do think a good portion of his craziness though is just him trying to make palantir look evil so governments will use them, and so he'll attract the 'morally flexible' entreprenuers.
