Some places on Earth has been highly diverse and still produced great art, and some places have had no diversity at all produced very few things of note. The correlation is pretty low. But interconnectivity hurts art for sure. The fantasy is that as a place becomes more diverse, you get more perspectives. But human beings are social animals, what happens when you lump people together is that they create a cohesive culture. Urban cultures are pretty much the same across the world.
