>>539807919He's right. This was obvious to any onlookers even before the war started.
Mearsheimer things Iran has some sort of ultimate upper-hand in the game. But he's clearly missing the recent developments. The economy has totally adapted to the closure of the Strait, they simply increased production of other wells. It wasn't even difficult. The US is totally self-sufficient on oil, if there is a big loser it's China and some third world countries. So it looks like this "ultimate trump card" of Iran's is not really such a trump card. The US can stall this out indefinitely now, and as it does so, formulate a strategy that will work. Iran's position is not as solid as Mearsheimer believes, you might indeed see the government falling in the next couple years. He keeps urging them not to take any deal, well to be honest, I think they should take the deal while they're at their maximum point of leverage, which is right now. They still have nuclear enrichment in pickaxe mountain. If they negotiate while that still is on the table, they'll get a better bargain than once the US blows that up.
Nobody refutes Mearsheimer.

>>539807919mearsheimer has never been correct about anything and he has been butthurt the last few years about the fact that his entire life's work on the theory of offensive realism has been proven wrong by russia. democrats based their entire foreign policy on his slop theory and it fucking failed. guy is a loser and having a tantrum about it

>>539808072> The economy has totally adapted to the closure of the Strait, they simply increased production of other wells. It wasn't even difficult. The US is totally self-sufficient on oilYou do realize that oil prices have been high and are costing the economy untold billions in fuel costs, right? The U.S. SPR is about to empty, which will result in high prices. Farmers can’t get fertilizer. If what you say is true, then Trump wouldn’t be trying to blockade Iran and throwing a bitch fit on Truth Social every other day about Hormussy.
>>539808457There's no reason for it, other than the US being totally autistic and unable to allow the president to do basic fucking foreign policy things. What should happen is we nationalize our oil, then sell to americans at-cost while selling to foreigners for an uptick price. Americans get cheap oil, we pay off the national debt in a few years, China gets squeezed. It totally works for America. But we can't do that because the Supreme Court and Congress unilaterally decided the president has no power to do literally anything. He can't even do tariffs lmao. Like what the fuck? We should straight up nationalize these oil companies, we can win this international struggle just by doing this one simple thing. But we are crippled by autistic rules binding us like 1000 tiny ropes holding down a giant. I say the executive should flex his muscle and just do it. You have the power, the Consituttion said you are the one to conduct international affairs. It's on the executive and the executive alone to do this. Why allow these little shits in Congress or the Supreme Court to dictate everything? Is not the executive 1/3 of the government with a say in the matter as well?
>>539808242((Pretending to be retarded))
>>539808072>The US is totally self-sufficient on oilThis has never been true and never will be true unless the US nationalizes the oil industry, which would be the most communist action a president has ever taken
>>539808675>communist actionIt's mercantalist. And it works in this case because with the Gulf offline we have a veritable monopoly now. We can do stuff like this. This is the power of monopolizing a resource.
>>539808732You cannot do anything like this without the government compulsorily acquiring all US oil companies which is beyond farcical, not even Trump is that insane
>>539807919>Professor MaersheimerOnly likeable Jew.
>>539807919Asymmetric warfare is fun like that. For the US to 'win' in Iran, they need to completely subjugate the country, and destroy the militaryThey need to track down the thousands of missiles spread everywhere, de-mine the strait, et cetera..For Iran to win, all they need to do is not lose. Thats it. Just dont lose for long enough and they win.It isn't even a matter of better equipment/militaries.or anything like that, the conditions for victory are vastly different.
>>539808819It's been done before in the housing crisis, you just buy up the stock of the companies and then you can dictate their actions. Also it wouldn't be like some communist dictator takeover, obviously the companies are still run privately. We just dictate one market inside the country, and one market outside the country. Simple. The companies can profit as much as they want on foreign export, with the caveat that they sell to Americans at-cost. Also since the government has a majority-stake, they can use their portion of the profits to pay off the national debt. The knock-on effect is, since oil is cheaper in america, all the manufacturing companies start RUSHING home, like a tidal wave. Every single manufacturer leaves china, practically overnight, and floods into the US. This totally bolsters US industry while cutting the knees out from China. This could be a moment of major restructuring for the US economy. Away from this debt-based consumer economy, and to a more well balanced economy with manufacturing, which encourages saving, and human development like Europe. This one fell swoop can totally fix all these major issues with our society.
>>539808585> What should happen is we nationalize our oil, then sell to americans at-cost while selling to foreigners for an uptick price. Americans get cheap oil, we pay off the national debt in a few years,Now I know you’re a retard. It would cost the U.S. government $4.5 trillion to nationalize the oil industry, which would be tacked-on to the national debt. And if oil will be sold “at cost”, then how would it pay off the national debt? Are you a member of DSA, by any chance?
>>539809157Ok first of all, the US has the power. If the US wants to nationalize, it nationalizes. Period. But even if the US pays into the oil companies, that's an investment. We can get the money back out again when we eventually sell. It's like paying into a house, you can sell the house and get your money back. The profit comes, because the US has a near-monopoly. That's why this works. Because the US can sell to foreign countries for $8/gallon, while the average US consumer pays $2/gallon. We make so much money on the export, and we don't lose any money since we're selling to Americans at-cost.Once we pay off the national debt, we can even subsidize lower prices for Americans and sell to below-cost. The export subsidizes the price for Americans. We also get all these manufacturing companies rushing home for the cheap price. That brings jobs, critical industry. This brings taxable wealth, and reduces social services since people have more jobs now. More importantly, we now are stronger than China. This allows us to project even more power in the world, and monopolize even more resources. If we were smart, we could do a similar thing with food as well. We export so much food, why should Americans pay a high price just because of demand in foreign countries?By the way, this sort of thing is commonplace already. Oil states like Iraq allow their own citizens to buy oil for insanely cheap, like 25 cents/gallon. Norway allows their citizens a share of the profits, they actually get checks in the mail based on their oil export. This is already done, I'm just saying we can do the same thing for America.
>MaersheimerCrazy to think the guy is actually jewish, I would have never guessed.Considering the fact that he's vehemently hates pissrael.
>>539808929US wins by default unless Iran can attack the US mainland. Sorry kid, that's just reality.
>>539809659So North Vietnam lost?
the reason this guy became so popular is because there's a 2014 presentation he held at a university or something wherein he describes how NATO's attitude towards ukraine will result in ukraine's total destruction. pretty much everything that has happened today he was warning about in that video. it went viral and got like 40 million views on YT, so now every time he says something people take it seriously.also he wrote a book "the israel lobby" in the early 2000's, which landed him in trouble. israeli's worked hard to cancel his ass, but he's a tenured professor so it didn't work. he's retired US air force as well, vietnam war.
>>539809807I think he’s popular because he isn’t partisan and his view of international relations is logical to most people who hear it. Btw, he didn’t retire from the USAF; he left after about 4 years to pursue a career in academia.
(((You)))
>>539809807So often when he's making predictions it's based on simple truth-square logic, like the prisoner's dilemma. But the issue is, oftentimes these are decisions made by 1 single man, usually a dictator, and men can be emotional or swayed by religion. It's impossible to predict their behavior or what mood will strike them, they don't fit smooth-curve lines like market economics. That makes predictions impossible. I think his predictions would hold better for a country like China which actually does seem to be guiding itself according to certain principles of action. >also he wrote a book "the israel lobby"Keep in mind he could do that because he did a bunch of holocaust research and WW2 stuff giving him bona-fides, otherwise he'd just be written off. Politically he seems to be just a market liberal type who wants free markets and freedom of choice. He's said things like the best advantage the US has over China is our ability to take immigrants, for example. Like some nigerians and senegalese are going to be our ace-in-the-hole
>>539807985He's literally the guy who wrote an entire fucking book on the Israel lobby in the US and risked his academic career over it you dumb cunt.
They are 2-0 right now.
>>539808072US oil wells were already running at 90% the only reason oil prices aren't out of control is China killing their demand and relying on their SPR
A good read for anyonehttps://thewarhorse.org/records-troops-wounded-iran-war/A breakdown of US losses in manpower, shows a couple of mass casualty incidents that the US covered up
>>539810640the 2 dates concerned are the March 3rd and March the 18thMarch 3rd 29 casualtiesMarch 18th 70 casualtiesGoing to start trawling through news to see what happened on these days
>>539810759kekThe March the 3rd was the US Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi getting hit on the 2ndThis is what the CIA has been bitching about latelyIt was a double tap on the wing used by them, the first drone broke the walls and the next detonated inside
>>539807919>I didn't hear no bellIt's over shartonius stay down doggie
>>539808072>checks crack spreadSPR is still going down
It's more like Israel defeated the USA.Trumpstein committed to some dumb fucking jew war and then the jews themselves are like "OI VEY AMERICA'S WAR ISN'T OUR WAR" lmao what you get for trusting a jew.
>>539808072>The economy has totally adapted to the closure of the Strait, they simply increased production of other wells. No, you retard, they are emptying the strategic reserves. Also, it isn't about oil, it is also fertilizer, helium and a shitload petrol product that was also coming through the strait. The collapse haven't even started yet.
>>539810759The 18th seems to be a combinationI think that the Bahrain Naval base took a pretty sever hitThe amount of officers injured in one go is an indication that a Joint Ops center or similar was hit2 Emirati soldiers died in another attack in the Al Dhafra Air Base, this is a multi nation base and would account for the mix of army and marines listed, it obviously took hits with the deaths of the 2 soldiers
>>539809690Yes
