Now that most vehicles are electric, I noticed the smell of diesel and petrol cars much more.
Politically, EVs are here to stay but battery production pushes the emissions and pollution upstream. Mining lithium and cobalt is ruinous to health, and employs child labour for pennies.
Governments are fighting over mineral deposits and the German car industry is finished.
EVs are clean at the point of use but require Chinese dominance to thrive. Moreover, electricity is hugely expensive thanks to net zero goals.
How do we square this circle?

You can't, I came to that conclusion some time ago and have unironically moved towards beasts of burden, not only for environmental reasons, but for self sufficiency reasons, it's a very simple supply chain.

They eat things that are easy to grow.

They shit things that make things grow better.

Pentti Linkola was right.

That alone makes it likely that this ideological prt project is not here to stay but will fall to the teeth of time.

Electric grid is massively more decentralized than petroleum manufacturing and distribution. Literally anyone can install a solar panel and power their home and charge their vehicle at home and the actual electric grid if you prefer that option is also massively decentralized and resistant to disruption. Meanwhile there are entire countries that do not have oil, do not manufacture petrol or diesel and rely on a single point of failure import logistics to deliver it to them.

>I admire your radical solution straya anon, but it won't work here in London. There's nowhere to park my horse.
Unfortunately that's where the radical solutions come in.

Our numbers are unsustainable, our way of life is unsustainable, travel to any third world country, china, india, africa, non-Whites of this earth spread and breed with reckless abandon consuming and destroying all, even now in our own countries we see the destruction and filth they bring, we are completely at odds with the natural balance and it will rebalance itself most violently if we don't address it first. We've centuries of industrialization debt that we're simply paying interest on, and we're well past the point of borrowing to pay the interest. If we continue to kick the problem down the road it only grows exponentially.

There will be no collapse, the world will simply become one bigger third world shithole built upon mounds of plastic and industrial life until we degrade as a species to the point of our own destruction.

This is unfortunately where my beliefs and those of the parasitic elite align, we do need a managed decline, we do need depopulation, but not for the purposes of control or enslavement, but to restore balance, to unfuck the mess we've made.

Smaller population centres more evenly spread out across the planet, low environmental impact, no unsustainable growth, eugenics.

why dont europeans just set up mining companies to acquire resources to make batteries and why don't they just build nuclear reactors to create cheap energy.

all this talk about nazis and fighting the wrong side wingers of the wing war and it seems you guys lost track of important things like supply chains for resources, technological competitiveness and infrastructure.

do you think any european country today has the competence to build a nuclear reactor?

Yes, mining lithium and cobalt, the way it's done in the rift Valley, is super toxic.
Uranium and cobalt go hand-in-hand, as well. Where you find cobalt, silver, and nickel (things you need for batteries) you will find radioactive uranium isotopes.

Most of the lithium we find on earth with concentrations high enough to mine is found in deserts where millions of years of layering sediments and evaporation concentrated it.
Very small impact on my stuff in the desert.
But again, the next generation of EVs is already coming with sodium batteries (it also doesn't burn like hellfire when you poke a hole in it).

>I have a fuck-huge solar array and if the power from the grid goes out my house loses power even though I generate enough power to be "off grid".
That's a wiring issue, there's no technical reason why you couldn't be off grid if you have a large solar array. Most solar panels aren't set up to directly power the home because most people aren't really schizoids that care about "centralization of risks in the electrical grid" but that's just a question of set up and priorities. If you want you can change the wiring such that the solar panels actually provide primary or secondary power to your house, it's not all that difficult or expensive even if you want to be prepared. In fact if you have a "huge" solar array it's probably something you should do because selling power back to the electric company is typically the least effective way of using solar panels, a battery (which an electric car also is) will pay itself if you can utilize some of the extra energy during the evenings for instance.
There is no way to do the same with gasoline, you are entirely dependent on distribution out of your control and the manufacture and distribution is much more centralized, netherlands for instance is lucky and has actual oil (most countries don't even have that) and yet it relies on just a handful refineries to produce all of their gasoline, most of those are in one location too, meanwhile electric grid is supported by thousands of power stations and again you can simply disconnect if you feel like it.
>>
>>539814862
technically it's a wiring issue but in fact it's a government and power company issue
it's easier for them to control the grid if houses don't have real autonomy
it's also supposedly safer for some reason
the power company guy explained it to be but I don't remember the details now
tl,dr: government
>>
>>539815184
>but in fact it's a government and power company issue
No it's not. It's not illegal to remove your house from the grid nor is it even antisemitic. You can do it literally any time you want. I have no idea what you are on about. And again all of that actually DOES apply to gasoline distribution. It is in fact illegal to set up a refinery of your own in your house and the government DOES have actual control over gasoline production and distribution.
>>
>>539814862
>huge solar array
Well, its pretty big. Maybe not HUGE. Its 20kw. Im not electrical engineer but my understanding is the excess energy needs to go somewhere. Im working on a battery back up now. I do need to figure out a way to disconnect from the grid so my house can be powered if the grid goes down. Its super gay and annoying.
>>
>>539815270
>You can do it literally any time you want.
yes, you can completely cut your house off the grid, sure
but, at least here, if you want to power company to buy your excess solar production or store it on your virtual power account (to be redeemed in the winter), you have to let them connect it in such a way that if the general grid is down, your solar panels don't power your house until the grid is back up
that's what I meant
but yes, you can go Mad Max anytime you want, it just takes some paperwork
>>
>>539814629
I'm fine with gas, but diesel has always gave me an immediate headache.
>>
>>539815352
>but my understanding is the excess energy needs to go somewhere.
That would be the battery pack. Obviously any electric controller from this century will not fry the panels or your house if the "energy doesn't go anywhere", the panels will simply be disconnected but that's obviously wasteful which is why typically it's just sold to the grid or put into a battery for later use.
>>
>>539815421
>yes, you can completely cut your house off the grid, sure
And anything in between. Again total freedom vs total control with gasoline
>but, at least here, if you want to power company to buy your excess solar production or store it on your virtual power account (to be redeemed in the winter), you have to let them connect it in such a way that if the general grid is down, your solar panels don't power your house until the grid is back up
Just set up a battery. How about the gasoline how are you going to refine that when the government says no?

I am not arguing about gasoline at all
was just making a comment on how solar works with the power company involved
I didn't get a battery because it was (2020) still very expensive and made the whole solar panel thing economically unviable
of course they can control gasoline much tighter than electricity
just look at what's going on in pidorussia
>>
>>539815435
Ideally I would like a battery back-up that I can use when the panels arent producing and to be able to switch from feeding the grid to powering only the house/charging the batteries when the grid is down.
I'm fine with selling the excess to the power company but also don't want to lose power to my house.
>>
>>539815618
>was just making a comment on how solar works with the power company involved
You were just wrong on your point though. The government does not prevent you from either installing panels or going off grid. You simply do not have an argument. The government does prevent you from refining your own gasoline which is why it's strange that you bring this up as an argument against solar.
>>
>>539815678
>I'm fine with selling the excess to the power company but also don't want to lose power to my house.
I mean majority of panels are set up like that for a reason. It's just the most convenient way of doing things. Like I said above, most people aren't schizoids so they don't think that the government will shut down the electric grid to prevent them from driving but somehow won't do the same to gasoline for some reason even though the kind of schizoid that could be stopped will have his own solar panel set up that can't be stopped by some dude without showing up on your property to physically disable it. As they say "it just works" and that's enough for vast majority of people.

You have no proof he didn't try to turn it off and it wasn't responding. I mean, look at what it was doing. Driving him into a jersey barrier then into another car. It was totally scitzed out.
>>
>>539816431
>You have no proof he didn't try to turn it off and it wasn't responding.
Yeah, that would be the catastrophic mechanical failure I mentioned, which is possible. That being said i would be surprised that there's no fail safes to keep that from happening, a master override, or even an emergency stop button to completely shut down the vehicle. I find it more likely it's operator error vs a manufactured product that has to meet safety standards having absolutely no way to shut down the vehicle.
>>
>>539816774
You're probably right. I looked it up and reports say he was DUI and the cars self-driving feature wasn't on.
