Chinas mass production of home-grown immersion DUV lithography machines marks what could be the first major step toward catching up far faster than even optimistic forecasts suggested

https://www.reuters.com/world/china/china-starts-production-home-grown-immersion-duv-chipmaking-tools-source-2026-07-28/

Led by state-backed Aishengna (absorbing top local talent), output starts small but delivers to SMIC, Hua Hong and CXMT soon. These tools enable 28nm easily and push to 7nm/5nm via multi-patterning - sufficient for high-volume AI chips, memory, and processors. At 10-30x lower costs than cutting-edge Western setups (no EUV royalties, localized supply, scale), China could flood markets with competitive or superior-performing AI hardware. Lower barriers mean explosive data center buildout, cheaper training/inference, and rapid iteration - flipping the economics of AI supremacy despite sanctions. Full domestic DUV breaks reliance on ASMLs restricted tools. Even if initially lower-yield, it provides a resilient alternative. Further tweaks + multi-patterning close the gap on advanced nodes without EUV, accelerating self-sufficiency and eroding the Wests chokepoint leverage years ahead of schedule

Further EUV miniaturisation faces severe physics barriers below 2nm - stochastic noise, power/heat issues, mask defect and exponentially rising costs make reliable high-volume production extremely difficult even with High-NA EUV. Meanwhile China leads in quantum scale (photonic/supersonic systems) and patents.

It could erode Western edges in classical + quantum tech, enabling cheaper AI/supercomputing parity and decryption breakthroughs, potentially ending unchallenged supremacy by creating dual-use strategic equivalence. Thats why i am bullish on China xD
>>
it is stolen us technology and the usa should sanction the netherlands over it. their chips are still crap and the only reason they would ever be able to sell for cheaper is because of their currency manipulation. china is over, chang. no one is going to allow them to dump their slop on the market
>>
>>539813815
EUV is a dead end, and Jews cant rule the world for good of the world itself. Competition is good. Stop being so salty xD
>>
>>539813897
>EUV is a dead end

And i mean it. Thats why China doesnt even bother to vaste resources on this shit and instead pushes everything into quantum computing + economical DUV. At sub-2nm, 13.5nm wavelength + stochastic shot noise causes massive variability in photon absorption, worsening line-edge roughness and defects. High-NA EUV boosts resolution but slashes depth of focus, throughput (fewer wafers/hour) and requires extreme power/heat management. Multi-patterning adds complexity/cost exponentially. Physics (Poisson statistics, resist limits) makes reliable high-volume manufacturing impractical and uneconomic beyond current node. Westoids must face bankruptcy at this point xD

Why didnt they go for a FEL fab yet? All this complicated lenses mess when they could just hook up a FEL and adjust the power given their energy buildout it makes sense for them. Also they wouldnt need to reverse engineer western tech for that.
>>
>>539814853
FEL remains highly experimental. It requires massive linear accelerators for coherent X-ray beams, it faces unsolved challenges in power stability, beam control, optics, resist interactions and foremost throughput for high-volume manufacturing. China prioritizes rapid scaling of mature DUV tech for immediate production needs over unproven experimental systems. BTW, China actively invests in FEL, it built facilities for advanced lithography research like Shanghai Soft X-ray Free-Electron Laser etc. However, quantum computing shows faster, more promising breakthroughs.
>>
>>539814853
Their stead state microbunching experimental synchrotron laser is under construction. It is many years away from commercialization. They have several concurrent project ongoing at the same time. DUV just hit mass production. EUV is expected to hit mass production in the early 2030s.

Ah yes, sanction them. That'll absolutely accomplish something.
>>
>>539815921
China treats EUV as one parallel project among many (DUV scale-up, quantum, FEL). It allocates far less total spend than the concentrated Western ecosystem (ASML/Zeiss/IMEC decades of private+gov R&D), prioritizing quick DUV wins for current production. EUV might happen but might also never happen if quantum/FEL breaktroughs show up.
>>
The thing about China is scale. If they build one they will build a thousand. If you can make things cheap enough you don't need to be on the absolute frontier if you can just have an architecture with three of whatever it is instead.
>>
>>539816799
True. A 2nm chip offers only 45% more performance than 7nm, so 1.4-1.5 Chinese 7nm chips match one 2nm. But China is ramping 7nm/5nm capacity from 20k to 100k wafers/month - vastly more than Western volumes. At 10x lower cost and with algorithmic innovations like sparse training, China can deploy swarms of chips, making per-chip node advantages irrelevant. Mass production + cost efficiency will flood AI hardware markets, eroding global Western share by 2027/2028. Thats my market bet xD
>>
>>539816873
2nm (GAA) brings 40-50% better perf/watt vs mature 7nm, plus efficiency gains critical for large AI clusters (power/ cooling costs dominate). But for China it might be irrelevant. Chinas cheap coal/renewable power + massive land for cooling reduces energy cost sensitivity. Algorithmic gains (sparse models, quantization) and sheer volume of cheaper 7nm/5nm chips allow massive overprovisioning, delivering comparable cluster throughput at far lower capex. Density advantages shrink when you deploy 2-3x more chips.
>>
>>539817196
Theoretically if a 2nm cluster trains it in 90 days, the 7nm swarm (3x chips) might take 150 days due to communication overhead. But Huaweis 160,000-card cluster achieves >95% linearity via self-developed "Lingqu" interconnect with 2.1μs latency. System-level optimization physically breaks the communication wall so scale-up doesnt linearly increase training time.

The Chinese have already three working/operational prototypes: SMEE SSA800, Yuliangsheng DUV SMIC and Aishengna DUV. Pic-rel is SSA800, currently produced for Chinese chip companies such as SMIC, Hua Hong and CXMT
>>
>>539818415
i meant the new ones in real not a CGI or AI image
>>
>>539818500
Thats the new one. The SSA800 is currently >85% locally sourced, with 15% still imported (specialty optics, coatings). Domestic suppliers are completing final validation, and 100% localization is expected within months. It will be soon (in months) first DUV machine in 100% (all parts) produced domestically. Meanwhile ASML supply chain is global hence vulnerable.

Pfff xD ASML EUV machine has 700,000 parts from 5,000 suppliers across 60 countries. Germany supplies the critical optics (Zeiss) and high-power lasers (TRUMPF) - the core of the system. Netherlands handles mechanical modules and final integration. UK provides vacuum systems. Japan supplies mask blanks, inspection, and patterning tools. The US (Cymer light source and MKS gas controls) is just one node among many. The US role is far from dominant, one of many xD

You're asking for WW3.
>>
>>539819074
>Germany supplies the critical optics (Zeiss) and high-power lasers (TRUMPF)

BTW, China already has 100% domestic (not even one screw imported) alternatives for these two if we talk about DUV. For optics (Zeiss role): Molaite Optical, core supplier to SMEEs DUV lens systems. For laser source (TRUMPF role): Leisheng Laser (100% domestic solid-state DUV lasers, commercial) and CAS (solid-state 193nm DUV prototype).

Although i must honestly/objectively admit that Cymer is very important. Cymer manufactures the droplet generator. This device shoots microscopic droplets of molten tin at 241 km/h through a vacuum, 50,000 times a second. Cymers technology controls hyper-precise synchronization required for TRUMPF laser to strike each individual droplet twice to create the EUV-emitting plasma.

BTW, Beijing Keyi Hongyuan (backed by the CAS Institute of Microelectronics) acts as Chinas direct domestic alternative to Cymer for DUV light sources. They successfully developed and commercialized high-power ArF (and KrF excimer lasers, plugging directly into SMEEs homegrown lithography tools to achieve supply full chain independence.

In a global crisis like port blockades, strait closures, drone strikes vs bulk carriers, one sunk ship or delayed container can halt ASMLs 60-country chain. With hundreds of thousands of parts, a single missing German lens or Japanese valve stops an entire ASML machine. Meanwhile the Chinese model which is domestic autarky means uninterrupted semiconductor production regardless of external chaos. ASM’s hyper-globalized model is a single-point-of-failure nightmare - geopolitical shocks become instant production halts, exactly when chip sovereignty matters most. Resilience demands self-sufficiency, not just efficiency. Besides full independence autarky is compatibile with Marxism-Leninism that China preaches xD

Their chips are so bad Apple wants to use them in their devices.
>>
>>539821970
Apple is lobbying to use these chips only in products sold within China, avoiding political friction. But thd truth is that Apple is just tired of Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron because of poor performance-to-cost rate. Chinas YMTC now produces 232-layer 3D NAND with competitive density and reliability, matching global leaders. This technological parity (not just cost, kek) proves local chips can meet Apples performance standards for China-market devices, directly driving Apples interest. Without this edge, Apple wouldnt risk switching suppliers. xD
>>
>>539822489
iPhone 16 Pro is roughly $230 cheaper in China than the US for a reason, after all xD
>>
>>539822720
Despite tariffs, VAT, and Apples brand premium in China, iPhones are cheaper than in the US also due to local assembly, intense domestic competition and exchange-rate pricing. If these artificial handicaps such as import duties, distribution costs, and premium positioning were removed, the price could drop substantially, potentially by over +$1k xD

the kirin chipsets have been confirmed by the west to be domestically produced by china.
right now the success rate is rather abysmal.
they are currently producing refined machines to solve the issue with something like 15 being released by end of 2027.

China already had ASML DUV as its export used not be banned unlike EUV. What is new is developing an indigenous version.

It will help China reach independence for decent chips but they would still not have the EUV needed for top of the line chip.

>Wuhan biological weapon 武汉生物武器 China manufactured Coronavirus

First sentences and already obvious lies as it was actually the Mutt-inspired inside job.

The Brownstone article details leaked internal NIH emails (mainly 2016-2020) showing Francis Collins coordinating with Gates Foundation, Wellcome Trust, World Bank, WEF, and pharma giants on COVID pandemic infrastructure years before COVID.

https://brownstone.org/articles/the-nih-emails/

- "Germ Games" (2016 Davos): Bill Gates & World Bank pushed military-style simulations ("war games") for pandemics, including logistics, quarantines, messaging. Collins flagged a session as "potential land mine"; Fauci referenced existing US bioterror table-tops. Led to Event 201 (2019 coronavirus sim).

- Billions were pre-committed via CEPI (vaccine platform), African research hubs (weaker oversight noted), SMART Vaccines prioritization.

- Collins pushed global coordination; later sought "devastating takedown" of Great Barrington Declaration.

2013 DARPA biowarfare fund awarded Moderna $25M to develop mRNA platform for rapid response to unknown emerging diseases - years before COVID. This military-backed tech dovetailed with NIH/Collins "Germ Games," CEPI, Gates/WEF simulations. By 2019, platform + pre-planned machinery were fully ready. A year later the US arranges the Wuhan incident: mRNA vaccines are being rushed globally via the exact network that Americans were creating for 4 years. Not coincidence but pre-positioned US DoD/NIH apparatus for pre-planned global democide/genocide with using modRNA/LNP and AAV genetic tech.
