Whatever the fuck happens here? 28th largest country in the world and it's completely unknown.
>>
think about it: maybe the fact that we don't hear about them like we do about mali, somalia, liberia, sudan, the congo etc means that they got their shit figured out.
let's leave them be

They have camel races and uhh slave markets
>>
They fatten brides
>>
“ In Mauritania, the traditional practice of force-feeding young girls to prepare them for marriage is known as leblouh (or gavage). This custom involves young girls consuming massive amounts of high-calorie foods and liquids—sometimes up to 16,000 calories a day—under the coercion of family members or operators at rural "fattening camps"”

They only officially abolished slavery in the 1980's as the last country to officially do so, however the country is still full of illegal slaves.
>>
>>539841442
Just arab niggers basically
Before France took over in the 1880s, they lived in tents and didn't even have cities

Their desert shithole was so uninteresting that even during the 60 years France spent ruling it, we barely set a foot there (which enabled them to keep enslaving each others even though we had banned it) and never built anything.
Then in 1958 when we were about to grant them independence, we realized them having zero city was an issue so we hastly built them a capital city from scratches in a few months

the only thing I know from Mauritania es that iron ore train that some edgy travel influencers take for the cool pictures
>>
>>539844492
They only criminalized it in 2007 and there have been like 3 convictions since then. You can still see slaves working in shops and shit lol
>>
>poor muslim niggers
Why would you ever hear about it? The only time you'll hear Mauritania mentioned here is because their human sewage occasionally seeps into the UK by dinghy and commits ten crimes in the space of a week.
>>
>>539841442
literally nothing happens here. it's stuck in the 1600s

same thing with paris

the number of africans dying on those dinghys crossing from mauritania to canary islands is insane. like a dinghy with 150 africans just sinking with everyone onboard dying is a weekly event. you just don't hear it in the news

IS THIS WHY SO MANY FAT BLACK WOMEN EXIST? THEY'RE JUST MAURITIAN??
>>
>>539841442
Tuareg groups have enslaved so many Subsaharan Africans in this country that there is a whole word for them, iklan, it is very specifically a term for the Subsaharan Songhai ethnic group that has been enslaved by them

Chattel slavery used to be called the worst thing in the world but Tuareg people created an entire ethnicity of black slaves that were born slaves and remain slaves forever, for 900 years, not 200 or 300.

They are still dealing with the effects today, in the rural communities there are still black slaves serving brown Tuaregs, they are literally sold and chained up exactly like how they used to be
>>
>>539841442
Most people are slaves, so I doubt anything interesting or good happens. Even their national anthem sounds like the theme music a bad guy from a movie would have.

Muslim bullshit
Old ruins of weird shit no one seems to care about.
>>
>>539846509
Nafris enslaved and raped niggers so much that entire ethnicities were born out of it, yet I don't see any leftist talking about it

What Muslims did in Africa was far worse than the transatlantic trade

My friend and I were messing around with Google Maps last month. Mauritania has some creepy places in the middle of nowhere. Its capital city is fucking huge and sprawling, but it has a pathetic little harbor.

Google the Eye of Sahara. And then get lost looking at random locations in the desert. Imagime getting stuck there and wanting to go back home. Imagine how bad life must be in olaces so remote. If I went for a really long walk in the morning, I'd be in Bosnia and Herzegovina. If I went in another direction, I'd be in Skovenia. If I walked for a few days I'd be in Austria. You can walk for months in one direction and you'd still be in Sahara.

French colonial administrator Xavier Coppolani coined and applied the name "Mauritanie" (Mauritania) in the late 1890s to designate the region between the Senegal River and North Africa.

I'm not surprised. Abolishing legal slavery isn't the same as criminalising it, but while most of the Arabophone Islamic World has some degree of slavery (just look at Qatar), Mauritania has it significantly more than any other country in the world. I believe the only country with a percentage of their population living in slavery even close to them in North Korea, which really says a lot about Mauritania.

It's also important to note that under French rule the French did everything to combat slavery and implement egalitarianism as France was a Progressive Socialist country for most of its modern colonial history, so they did this almost all by themselves after the French left.

Just imagine how much of a shithole Africa is for them to risk their lives like that. Honestly, I wanted to create an armed patrol to shoot down migrant boats (something the government should do, but our governments are all insanely cucked, why even have a navy or coast guard at this point?), but seeing how often these boats just drown at sea I'm not sure if that is even necessary.

Also, the media downplays it because they don't want to discourage other Niggers from immigrating.

I always thought that Mauritania was just a Republican Morocco, but seeing the people makes me realise that they are way more Blacked™ than I expected. Yet Senegalese people will complain how the people from picrel are all "White supremacists".

> My friend and I were messing around with Google Maps last month.

I used to do this a lot when I was a child and later teenager, I'm glad that people are still doing this.

The huge city tiny harbour might be because of the way Africa's coast works, but it could also just be that they are too stupid to understand how harbours work, that or they might have nothing of note to export and no money to import.

Slavery and desertification
>>539841911
At least there's no civil war there, could always be worse in Africa
>>
>>539849699
none of the people in the boats are from mauritania. they're almost all west african migrants passing through mauritania. many go to mauritania, work in the fishing scene there for some time to save money and wait for a time to attempt, and then pay their way onto a boat. mauritanians for the most part stay in their home country
