With the trajectory the world seemed to be on during the 90s and most of the 2000s how did we get to where we are today? I honestly assumed that as technology improved and our understanding of science and the universe improved the general quality of everyone’s lives would improve. maybe I was naive. but it genuinely felt like that was what would happen.Today people say bizarre things like various powers are trying to depopulate the world now and get rid of us, and that begs the question why did they try making so many families have so many kids a generation or two back and now suddenly change their mind? What changed? I don’t understand how things were so good for people in past generations, how things were improving, and then suddenly at some point after the 2000s everythinf just stopped and seemingly started moving in a completely different direction.People share bizarre theories like we now “live in an alternate timeline” or other similar statements because of science fiction sounding premises like experiments ran using hadron colliders. And as ridiculous as that stuff sounds i at least understand the general premise in so far as we do seem to be in a totally different world today. people are much more anti social and polarized than ever before. Anyway I just wanted to hear your thoughts.
one day at a time i guessis there another way
I think things are improving. I stream all of my music now and I even used to cassette tapes. You can even stream video games, which is still amazing to me.It may be a small point but I'm very satisfied with it.
>>539844978>maybe I was naiveThat's an understatement. I could scarcely pull my father away from the television as a child in the 90s, I knew full-well what advances in technology would bring, that being more escapist slobs like my father. The flip phone era wasn't any different, everyone texting but still engaging in-person simply because technology still had limitations.>why did they try making so many families have so many kids a generation or two backWe had just come out of a war and accompanying war economy, that came off the heels of a massive economic depression. People didn't just die in the war, they starved or worked themselves to death at home too in order to facilitate that war. America is still a young nation, not even 100 years had passed since our bloody civil war by the time the world wars came around, having kids was a fact of life to preserve heritage and the nation. Immigration mainly took over that role in the latter half of the 20th century, with liberalism winding down the necessity of child bearing and our technological advancements facilitated more trade, war economy transitioned into a trade economy.>suddenly at some point after the 2000sThat's just your perspective, it had been heading downhill for a long time before you and continued downhill after you grew enough to recognize it.tl;dr - Liberalism
>>539844978>How did we get here?you seem human, i'll biteyou also seem young, under 30... or female... or bothregardlessyou don't yet appreciate the scale of what you're asking herethere are no short answers that don't just lead to more confusionand the long answers require a dedication to learning & truth that most people don't posess, even in the pursuit of pleasurelet alone in the pursuit of knowledge that can be quite uncomfortablei'm 20+ years in and i still have much to learnthey've been at it for centuries, so i don't beat myself up too bad
>>539845281>hey it's not so bad since consooming is so much easier beyond parody, you're more joke than human
>>539845281>Owning nothing is greatBro if you're reduced to streaming games just pirate them instead. Its free and you get to own it.Cant even mod a streamed game.
>>539846583OP asked about quality of life improvements related to technology. I think it's a good answer.Would you prefer that we all be forced to go back to cassette tapes?
>>539846693I don't actually stream stream games I just think it's amazing that such a thing is possible. Imagine trying to explain that to someone 20 years ago. I think I might have difficulty even getting the concept across.
>>539846905>Imagine trying to explain that to someone 20 yearsHey you purchase stuff you'll never own and have no access to the files and thus cant even mod.Its worse than both pc and console. If you explained it to a gamer 20 years ago they would call you retarded and the death of gaming.
>>539846833>OP asked about quality of life improvements related to technologyno he didn't. This is what you got out of his post? The fuck
>>539847272You're right; I'm sorry. OP never mentioned quality of life nor technology in his post.
>>539844978>the 90s and most of the 2000s That was already happening during those days, we were just too young to realize it
>>539846833Op here I generally don’t like it when people talk about consooming when people try to talk about things getting better. Because I think that the more important issues towards societies mental health are things like gender relations (men and women being able to talk to eachother normally without causing problems) as well as things like polite communities where people aren’t excessively rude or indifferent to eachother, basically you can go out and make friends and meet people you enjoy being around. And societies being somewhat high trust as well. where you don’t need to be overly cautious or wary of everyone. Regarding consooming media though that is another thing that bothers me quite a lot is I feel like almost all media has been hijacked and or sabotaged for at least a decade. And I started feeling this way probably around 2015 or 2016. Perhaps earlier.Videogames, film, visual entertainment mediums like comic books, all seem worse today with a lack artistic integrity. not that I spend much of my time with those hobbies, but part of that is I don’t think they are of a high quality anymore. which leads to the next point that everythinf seems to be made as cheaply as possible now. Which extends out of media and also into the “real world” where all buildings look the same and any place you go in which isnt a small chain or mom and pop shop feels like an ugly sterile place you don’t want to be in for more than a few minutes.I’m rambling.
>>539844978This is exactly the trajectory we were on anon. We had no backstops for dealing with social issues as they arose because we built a world around profit motive above all else, even the good of a nation's people.
>>539844978With the boomeRs sucking kike dick non-stop full-time with reckless abandon, I reckon
>>539844978it was a brilliant attack on all fronts by manifested evil
>>539847373Specifically what was already happening? I’m not saying you’re incorrect I just am trying to understand what your statement is.From my perspective things in the 90s up until the 2008 financial crisis were probably 10 times as relaxed as the world we live in now. And I would argue many times as fun. individual purchasing power went much further. people could still make friends and date the old fashioned ways and the entire population wasn’t chronically online and psyopped into a bunch of different opposed factions and groups. You could still go out to many fun places with your extra money from your paycheck and live a normal life. Also as many people point out if you do something stupid or retarded (which we all do) it wasn’t going to get recorded and put up online for everyone to laugh at in 99.9 percent of situations so young people were not so afraid to live their lives. this also extends to older people as well of course too. I find that quite dystopian. also the 90s and 2000s seemed like a cultural renaissance of new cool shit being made constantly. even if there were a bunch of issues bubbling beneath the surface, If we DO talk about the CONSOOMER mindset, the bread and circus back then was great. now we don’t even get that. Movies games new IPs new tv shows, just whatever, you name it. most of the best old IPs from back then are dead and whatever ones that are still around exist in a disgusting zombie form. And they are not being replaced by new creations of a similar quality. so there is some kind of creative stagnation that’s happened as well in society.Basically everything is worse now from my perspective. we also live in a gig economy now as well where even if you find a decent job everyone is constantly afraid of being laid off. BA, MS, education doesnt matter.
>>539844978krea 2 sucks ass and you should fuck off
>>539844978There was already a great fatigue in the 90's, we are just further into it. The greatest pleasures in life are linked to the greatest 'tragedies', war etc. War itself is fairly degraded, fair enough. But then why don't people enjoy martial arts more commonly...? Maybe it's not satisfying enough.Certain Video games and certain video/text productions still carry the spirit of such things on and that's part of why they are popular. Is it good to reproduce life endlessly? If so, then all is well, as population numbers are higher than ever before. But this sort of question is imbortant as 'why live' is the fundamental question, and despair is the default state of life robbed of any chance to be alive. As for tech progress, it's only natural to plateau, many projections were made on ahistoric bases and justified via 'they are ahistoric innovations.' But maybe they would have done better if competition had not been snuffed out. As it is, you have/had China and America as the nations 'allowed' to compete without entering into economic war technologically in key fields and so...And currently pretty much every population is degrading in terms of intellect, largely due to despair and the pointlessness of life. Only stupid people are convinced by the various copes going around, hence the continuing nature of the problem. Oh well
>>539848395>From my perspective things in the 90s up until the 2008 financial crisis were probably 10 times as relaxed as the world we live in now. They were, but those who were in the financial world they knew things were only going to get worse and their time was running down, the first of this was the end of Japan's economic bubble, casually before 911, terrorist attacks were already happening at the twin towers and after the URSS collapsed, US started immediatly its oil war in the middle east. While our lives in america weren't any different so far, the shadow of debt was already looming, the 90s were also the first time the elites also pushed their agenda 21 back in 1994 which then was further pushed to 2030. Kids programming were already including diversity and white guilt in their topics. Also this is when the whole global warming and the greenhouse effects were widely adopted.
>>539844978Bump for effort posting
>>539844978>how jewsEvil hateful jews.
>>539848917Those who were fortunate to lively during the 50s and 60s (AKA the time boomers born and grew up) have a whole different view of the world and despite all the claims, they have a reason for it. Back in their days, things like having a house was pretty much affordable for the common man, something with a mcdonalds salary would be able to get their first car and so on. Compare that to thee 90s and the young working population, was looking to get their first car used, people were already blaming on their 9 to 5 cubicle jobs about how pointless their lives were. This is how things like Fight Club, Dilberth and the Matrix became popular. The satire of living an empty live, working only to consume product.
>>539844978>What changed?there are simply too many people. if we continue to have our population expand exponentially, humanitarian disaster becomes inevitable
>>539844978shhhh. You hear that anon......That's the shit winds.....
>>539845962My dad was the same way being glued to the tv during the 90s and later, but what I will say is that during the 90s and the first half of the 2000s, he was happy. all things considered. and our family still had the purchasing power to do fun things every now and then as a group. I understand your sentiment about technology possibly pushing people into lives of escapism, and I’m sure you are right to some degree. but I think people were still pretty happy for a while back then which is still something. My family never recovered from the housing market crash in 2008. And my dad never found a stable job after getting laid off in 2010. Many of his coworkers never found another job in their field. (Software engineer) And he basically had to jump from gig job to gig job doing coding work until he died a few years ago renting a place for too much money with no money left after paying his bills each month.I feel like this story is relatively common in some ways. and it makes me wonder— when you say> people in the financial world knew things were going downhillWas the prosperity of the 90s and early 2000s never sustainable? Was that never going to last because it was impossible for some reason? Or is it just mismanagement of our country? that things could have stayed stable if things had been ran better? I’m sure many other people wonder this. Many of my friends have impressive sounding degrees in mechanical engineering or other fields and many of them are getting laid of over and over or always afraid of being laid of no matter what field they’re in. Seems like nothing about our world has any stability anymore.
>>539849396I have never understood the claim there are too many people. this has been something people say a lot. And it seemed to have legitimacy behind it, but then other things happen which don’t add up with that, like millions of immigrants coming to the US each year because we “need labor”. same with Japan. People say there are too many people but for a decade people have been reposting articles about the Japanese birth rate, and now they seem like they are trying to mitigate the problem by pushing a bunch of immigrants into Japan for what I assume is more labor. So what is the reality? If there are too many people why do we need labor so badly that we are bringing millions of people into random countries?maybe I’m not looking at it right but it doesn’t make sense.
>>539850048> like millions of immigrants coming to the US each year because we “need labor”. same with Japan. People say there are too many people but for a decade people have been reposting articles about the Japanese birth rate, and now they seem like they are trying to mitigate the problem by pushing a bunch of immigrants into Japan for what I assume is more labor.that's just a lie made up by Jews. We have too many people but they still want to genocide us.
