Could someone who knows about economics explain to me how $2 trillion could simply... disappear from the market without affecting anyone at all—except for a few niche markets—but absolutely no other sector of the global economy?
>>

because they were fake

US aligned economies are fake asffff, literally just fake money being moved around and counted several times and whole time the average Korean lives in a shoebox and can’t buy pineapple at the supermarket

it's just a valuation, turns out no one actually had 2 trillion in cash to buy out the stock value.

kids like toys, kids buy toys.
one day kids don't like toys so they flee the toy store.
toy store owners panic and sell toys for cheaper at the same time.
toy store owners don't make good money but they still have toy store open because somekids still want their toys
other kids keep their money in future for when toys will become valuable again.
toy store owners slowly starts to make good toys again.
kids slowly come back.

the kids are the investors, the toys are the shares, the toy stores are the companies valued in stocks.

Their stock market is overwhelmingly dominated by just 2 companies, Samsung and SK Hynix, both due to memory chips for AI infrastructure. Koreans love gambling, and normal koreans who otherwise would never gamble know they'll never own a home by working at their job, so they use massive leverage. The current president literally said his goal was to get the stock market to 2x in a year, he delivered more than that, and then the leverage got scary so he had restrictions placed on it. Now chinks are apparently going to start making RAM too, hence market go down.

stock price is a virtual prize that does not exists until you sell once you do you find out its real price via free market economics. At least thats what they all claim. Idk how taking a loan against the stocks fall into that but someone has to sell the stocks for the money to exist.
Also modern stocks work the same way as money printing does in regards to inflation. Nvidia gives out stocks to buy their gpu to companies which is essentially taking out a loan in the name of the "investors" with those profits they increase their stocks and invest it further.
>>
>>539858619
modern stock prices were inflated by top down gov financial regs, backroom kosher nostro blackmailing, and lack of meaningful alternatives. dividends and meaningful control over companies were priced out of access for even middling players so the only value in stocks is dumping them on some sap who thinks the price has yet to peak and they can do the same. some idiots who fail to get how inflation works think they win by just losing money slower at both enormous risk and empowering the financial arms of globohomo.
but overall modern financial markets are in long miserable death throes unless people think things are set to spike better off liquidating to whatever safe havens might survive this shit storm and keeping liquid to pounce once things rebound or burn down enough the things that made this mess are out of the picture.

"market value"/"market cap" is an imaginary number calculated by multiplying the price with the total number of shares

adding on to >>539860432 's analogy, imagine some rich retard paid $2 trillion for that mug once, then someone calculated that there are 1000 of those mugs ever made, that all the mugs must all be worth $2 trillion each since obviously someone paid that amount for it that one time, and so the total market of the mugs is actually $2 quadrillion

then some guy tries selling his mug and nobody takes it for $2 trillion, and he keeps lowering his price until someone finally buys it for $1. total market value of the mugs now goes back to $1000
>>
They went from a decent pension to pauper level pensions overnight.
>>
>>539858619

>>
>>539862141
>calculated by multiplying the price with the total number of shares
calculated by the price of the LAST TRANSACTION no less, so it's absolutely imaginary and means literally nothing more than price itself
>>
>>539858619
Global equity aka stock valuations don't really mean or signify much, except to people that actively trade and are leveraged in to them.
Stocks are not the economy. And in the post-1970s Financialized global economy, stock valuations are more volatile and artificially inflated than ever.

>pensions
Yes many global pensions in all countries are tied to valuations of index funds. But overall equity markets unless they are under pressure from spiking bond yields (in the case of pensions that heavily rely on gov bonds) are fairly stable in an index fund, that spreads the numbers over many different individual stocks and their valuations.
Also nobody gives a fuck about South Korea

Even after the losses this past week the KOSPI is still inflated WAY above where it should be. If you follow the trend from the past 5 years you can see that since around this time last year the valuations have been greatly inflated FAR ABOVE the trends and other than the hype over AI and datacenters these companies have not changed much or made any huge innovations. It's all AI hype and the market has a long ways down to go closer to the $3000 mark it was trending at.

it's not correct though, you're posting things that aren't true. It's a vacuous, self-referential commodity that is neither physically printed nor digitally generated, not even tabulated anymore, but assumed to exist in the past (debt), the present (credit) and the future (interest) in whatever volumes necessary to control you. By virtue of semantic (inflation) and semiotic (nominal value) trickery you are kept on a leash, unable to ever pay off your debt or ustain interest, while the "economy" operates beyond any "economic theory" (capitalism, communism, socialism,...) and solely revolves around the sale of longterm problems and service-based (rented) shortterm solutions (marginally smaller, metastizing problems), to maximize dependance, debt and interest.

>The largest stocks on the Korea Stock Exchange (KOSPI) by market capitalization are Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, which dominate the index with market caps exceeding $900 billion and $600 billion respectively.

They make microchips for data centers and AI is finally cooling off a little bit. There was a huge run on RAM chips recently and they were selling for way above normal. Its not a dip, so much as a well overdue market correction and a return to reality. Overall, that index has made some pretty significant gains. Only troon reddit-tier day traders view this as a huge loss and were surprised by this. In other news, call options on ropes and stools are up 1000%. Totally unrelated I'm sure.
>>
Projected market capitalisation =/= total daily trade volume.

It's easier to understand if you think about houses on your street. Your house's price is a theoretical value until you actually make the sale. But almost all homeowners don't sell their houses frequently. They live in them. We're not always constantly moving houses, right?
But the value of your house can change over time even though you're not selling it because of external factors. Like new development projects in your neighbourhood, good schools and hospitals, falling crime rates and so on.

It's the same with shares. Most shares don't get traded. People buy them and sit on them. Very few shares actually trade in any given day. Daily trade volume is a teeny tiny fraction of mcap. But the former influences the price of the latter.

Everyone ITT saying its fake money is a broke loser btw

This is true for housing, but these stocks paid dividends.

>Samsung Electronics distributed a dividend of ₩566 per share (including a special dividend) on April 17, 2026, totaling approximately ₩2.21 trillion for small shareholders.

>Analysts project the dividend could rise to around ₩8,135 per share in 2026 due to record earnings.
SK Hynix paid a dividend of ₩1,875 per share on April 24, 2026, with a record date of February 28, 2026. Its current dividend yield is low, ranging from 0.11% to 0.3%, as the stock price has appreciated significantly.

>Both companies are actively strengthening shareholder returns, with SK Hynix committing to pay a fixed dividend of ₩1,200 per share plus 5% of annual free cash flow for the 2022–2024 period.

>Could someone who knows about economics explain to me how $2 trillion could simply... disappear from the market without affecting anyone at all—except for a few niche markets—but absolutely no other sector of the global economy?

Jews are pump and dumping. We had an AI boom with all the computer hardware stocks particularly the memory the South Koreans were making posting huge gains throughout the year. Jews got in early and pumped the stocks until normies started to take notice and put their money in further driving the boom. Now the Jews are cashing out and the AI related stocks are all down like 25% or more over the past month. We're probably seeing normies cashing out too at this point because they bought in at peak about a month ago, promptly lost 20% as the Jews cashed out and now they're panicking and selling for a loss. I expect more losses and then the jews will buy back in and the stocks will go up again.

I invested in Micron and AMD like 3 months ago and I'm still up like 120% to 150% from where I bought in even after the 25% losses I've taken over the past month. The funny thing is the past month has basically been nothing but good news for the computer hardware stocks with sales and profit projections both looking really good as well as projections that the demand for hardware is going to be even higher next year and is likely going to stay high through 2030. In other words no logical business reason to sell; but the markets don't operate logically. Jews saw an opportunity to dump and profit off a boom bust cycle and normies are going to panic and get fucked by that cycle like they always do.
>>
>>539864007
Not a rebuttal. That doesn't change anything.

I'm not trying to downplay the significance of the price movement. But it's not really $2 trillion worth of fresh cash. It's probably only a few $ billion worth of shares that got traded for far lower prices than before.

Example: 10 more or less identical houses in a street
House sales are approx once per year and last year a house sold for $1 million. So the entire street is worth $10 million
This year a house sold for just $500k. Suddenly the entire street is only $5 million.
So a $5 million loss, right?

Yes and no. The homeowners of the remaining 9 houses haven't actually lost any money. There's no sudden $ 5 million dollars of cash flying about. Only one house got sold, but the price of that house updated the prices of all the other houses.

You make a good point and I'm not disputing that.

I'm just pointing out that in this specific case, the two largest stocks that basically carry this index pay dividends to shareholders. You don't need to sell them to make money, like you do with your house. You can, and that would've gotten you way more money than dividends, but its not always required to sell stocks to make money. This is specific to this particular exchange in this particular instance. Tech stocks are normally notorious for reinvesting all of their profits back into the business, and in those cases, you would need to sell the stock to make a profit.
