> paid training> take vacation whenever you want> always guaranteed a job> make over $100K after a couple years> best health care and benefits> retire wealthy and with a good pension> never have to work with women
>>539872202I wanted to join the local union here, but shit is so corrupt. They only let you in if you are a cousin, or a nephew, or a friend of of one of the peoples in the union to get in. It's always the same answers either "were full" or "we are looking for people with more experience". But then I was working with a kid, who was fast tracked into the union, because his uncle was already in it. I love the concept of unions, but the boomers in charge need to fucking die.
>>539872202General contractors have created a culture of making union work absolutely fucking miserable.
>>539873217Unions were once much more common in the US, but McCarthyists destroyed them because workers having rights is socialism or something.I mean, I get it if one as an employee wants to decide his working contract without overbearing government interference, it might work well with small mom and pop businesses, but good luck trying to negotiate on equal terms with a multinational mega corp.
because they aren't hiring you stupid, do nothing nigger
>>539873497Add in the fact that unions have been co-opted by the same corporate institutions that they were created to keep in check. A look into many of the biggest unions shows you just how in bed the corporate and union structure really is.>grocers union>teachers union>pipe fitters unionand my personal favorite that I have beef with>IBEW
>>539873217>>539873532> loser mentalityYoun have to go in person, give a good handshake and demand they give you a chance
>>539872202My state has the lowest amount of unions in all of america
>>539873600IBEW doesn't pay much unless they score a sweet gig contracting for corporation that normally has a highly paid union.Yes it's good getting benefits, but if the work dries up anyone who isn't connected get's the short end of the stick (keep paying those dues btw.)With that said, many of the most corrupt and well paid maintenance jobs for electricians and the like are with unions. Major manufacturers have to keep a similar pay grade and benefits level for retention, but anyone in the trades becomes aware of the unionized spots that pay well above grade and are impossible to get into.
i’m a neet
>>539873600Don't get me wrong—even here in the EU unions are far from perfect. But they serve as a counterbalance to the worst execces of corporate greed.
>>539872202Working for other people is usually just realizing they're all dirty scammers. Imagine working on a Christian hospital and everyone is in drugs, hungover and stealing shit, and if you're not in on it you get shitcanned
>>539873217FPBPSame fucking shit herePlus, it is full of retarded spicsBullshit that they take the jobs that now one wants
>>539872202The fucked me here. Had a workplace accident. Workers around me called for an ambulance, management turned it away. Union rep told me they wrote a complaint against said manager, I find out a few months later that it would inconvenient for him and that is why they did not submit it. When I found that out I started slacking dragging ass all the time barely showing up. They were threatening to fire me before I quit. I will not work for another union again. All they do is work as an hidden arm of higher management.
>>539873692>he thinks I haven't gone in person to the union offices.>>539873744I honest just want a job working for my city. The reason our government is so fucking broken is because the people that work all of the government jobs are retarded. I want to be the change I want to see in the world.
>>539872202>never have to work with womenah I see you're a retired boomer. there are women in the trades and all of the 90 IQ guys compete to be her biggest simp.
>>539872202Where.. ?
>>539872202Union membership is mandatory in most states
>>539873692horse shit buddy. IBEW in my area was/is only hiring based on one criteria: you work for a company they want to unionize and vote in favor. If they really hate that company and the employees vote against unionizing they might offer you a job just to take workers away from them. Better hope they win some big contracts or you'll be on the sidelines in a couple months! As for the really sweet gigs, we're talking stevedores and like good fucking luck. You have to know someone. When I was a 3rd year apprentice I applied for a job with a different company. Indeed said 900 other people applied for this apprenticeship. He indeed offered me the job with little more than a look at me and a handshake but I realized I'd be dumb to leave my gig where i was already safely established before I got my ticket. The idea that the trades are "starving" is bullshit. THey all want someoen already trained and pass up hundreds of kids looking for one every week.
>>539873886True. I remember one female foreman that had me do busywork moving pipe stands for hours in a basement and I didn't mind because it was a woman. They really are useless
>>539873217>But then I was working with a kid, who was fast tracked into the union, because his uncle was already in it.Keep contact with that kid
>>539874000then when it's time for cigarette break they all gather around her and give her various forms of advice, don't remember anything like that when I started out.
Unions are more corrupt than the people they claim to protect against.
>>539873760>But they serve as a counterbalance to the worst execces of corporate greed.only you can stop the forest fire. you will realize this too late.
>>539874215Just watch out for the GM, if you have a bad feeling about him he's probably not a good guy
They don't exist. Thanks Raegan but you can actually blame boomers for running to their unions whenever the production boss would come around and crack the whip. Boomers didn't want to work that's why they killed unions
