File: Project Silica.png (1.81 MB, 1920x1080)
1.81 MB PNG
Microsoft literally made Project Silica, terabytes stored in a piece of fucking glass that fits in your hand. It's EMP-proof and lasts 10,000 years. We need this shit at consumer scale. Imagine archiving 1,000 movies in glass instead of blowing hundreds on SSDs that'll be e-waste in a few years. It's Read-only, but still is very good.

>imagine archiving jewish theater
>imagine watching crap propaganda from the early 2000s 10 thousand years from now
>oh god im gonna SOOOOIIIIII
>>
Imagine all that bbc porn you could fit in there for posterity
>>
>>539874253
>It's Read-only,
oy vey it means jews can't rewrite history, very anti-semitic storage
>>
>>539874253
how is this an improvement over disk platters
how is this an improvement over nvme which is the same exact concept except doesn't have atrocious read write
>>
>>539874334
Books, anime, based movies, Hitler speeches. It's good to have archives.
>>
If reading it requires a moving part it's basically an optical disc
>>
>>539874253
>probably slow as fuck to read from
ok.
>>
>>539874253
>>
>>539874433
It's cheaper if it's scaled up. It's laser engraving on a glass.
>>
A trained opera singer could destroy all of recorded history though
>>
>>539874538
AI will solve that
>>

I LOVE BBC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE FUCK MY GF!!!!!!!!
>>

>It's Read-only
And probably too slow to read to even play a 4k movie
>>
>>539875630
Well we could design our own. Improvise it.
>>
>>539875765
Make it out of plastic and call it a CD

if you werent a retard gen z kid , if you cared about long term storage you would use blu-rays that last 50 years
>>
>>539881385
Yeah except there will be nothing to read bluray in 50 years.
>>
>>539874433
Disk platers have a lifespan of 3-5 years with use 10-30 years if stored in ideal conditions and shielded from emps and cosmic rays.

30 years is less than 10,000 years.
>>
>>539881431
retards said the same about CDs in the 80s,
>>
>>539881384
They could use a protective layer
>>
>>539881385
50 years is less than 10,000 years

Also blu rays are estimated to last 20 years at the lower end. The 50 year estimation is only if they arent used, kept out of sulight and stored at between 65-75f

But it is quite based idea tho.
Imagine the Palace of Solitude built at North Pole that is made of entirely such material.
I could move in there, plug myself into the mainframe and experience millions of lives as if I actually were there.
>nooo.. wait a minute.
>>
>>539881662
So you are going with the boomer mentality that the rest of the world and humanity stops mattering after you die. Very Jewish mindset.

if i was a wealthy guy i would love having a glass archive room, keeping all my little glass doodads in decorative shielded boxes

but it would have to be underground somewhere to keep it out of the hands of niggers
>>
>>539874253

imagine making the physical media last 10,000 years but also stop supporting it when the next OS version is released
>>
>>539881738
What if we're all already dead and buried inside a (silicon) crystal mountain and we just relive the happenings leading to our demise, unable to alter the course of event no matter how we try? We need to study the events from all angles until we understand through and through. Then we're reborn and get spanked and must swear to never do it again.

nvme can't be stored cold for too long.
Conventional disks deteriorate from mechanical wear.
M-Disc is based but expensive and about as fast as a Blu-ray.
This looking glass device can theoretically be read in one go with several laser readers.
Put it in a caddy so it's protected and you can then sell entire series or 8K RAW scans of original (Super)35mm on a single silidisc.
It'll cost a fortune to mass produce I'm sure, but Criterion will have the horn, and they will manufacture and release it.
>>
>>539881743
>wealthy
>still has niggers around
You and I do not have the same definition of wealthy
