If they would have wanted to "rebrand", they'd have chosen some cold virus that feels similar to what they claimed as Covid symptoms. Because of that rapid onset, influenza is not very infectious, people simply spit onto their bed instead of other people's food. It also means that when people stop being total swine, influenza dies off and recedes to the most dirty people.
