Yeah, I’ve been talking about this since March. No one wants to discuss it.The SPR exists to keep oil prices stable in times of emergencies. Guys more familiar with the market can explain how spiraling costs occur. Generally, the reserves will be tapped when there’s a disruption in the market, and contracts signed with oil companies to refill the reserves at a later date. Biden tapped them in 2022 due to disruptions in the global market caused by the Russo-Ukrainian war and it barely made the news. It really didn’t need to; the reserves were tapped, prices remained relatively stable, and the reserves were gradually filled again via contracts.Trump had them tapped earlier this year after a disruption to the oil marked caused by his Zionist-Iranian war. The idea was to end the disruption quickly by winning the war. And of course it’s the Middle East, so the oil market hs suffered a lot more, requiring a lot more from the SPR. Tapping the APR isn’t an exact science. It’s very hard to predict exactly how much they’ll get, or how long it will take. It was originally set to run out by August. That’s also why the U.S. rushed to get a peace deal signed in June. Why try to reach a peace deal when there are still plenty of strategic military options left? But this means two things: the first is that there needs to be a certain level of pressure for us to easily pump the oil back out.
