I'm a NEET and it's not by choice. I want to work and earn money, but the job market is depressing. There are more jobseekers than there are job vacancies. And the jobs that are available are either highly skilled/niche, low pay, or difficult to get to. I want to study or change profession, but I can't because I have no money to pay for training or education. I want to leave the country, but I can't because I have no money, the job market is the same elsewhere, and I have the disadvantage of not speaking the local language. All government solutions is to throw money at the problem and get schools to teach these subjects when 1) there are no jobs because businesses are struggling or closing 2) it's not just young people aged 16-24 years old that are being affected.
